If you are in the area, it is worth stopping by for a visit. It is good for kids. You can spend a few hours here but if you miss it while driving through the state, you won't be upset. Glad I went but would not stop again in the future.

Absolutely love all of the Christmas lights and heated outdoor seating! Parking was a bit tricky, but worth the walk even in the cold. Lots of unique shops , restaurants, and people.

Sunflower fields are always beautiful! I can spend hours taking pictures of them and butterflies and other insects, especially bees. It's fun to watch artists painting there too.

An absolute Must See, if interested in the origins of basketball and specifically KU Jayhawks. Two levels of exhibits, memorabilia, Hall of Famers, historical documents. All right at the Phog Allen Fieldhouse. A staffed tour is available for about $10. You are free to walk the majority of the exhibition halls. To see the Naismith Court, this tour is highly recommended. History oozes from the Fieldhouse. Also, nice to compare quiet time to the Game volume decibels. A nice food court is in the 2nd level. Some limited alcohol can be purchased and consumed in this area. Finally, a nice Rally House Gift Shop, for All souvenirs and gear, clothing, suitable for All age groups. Parking can be challenging. Central district garage is available to the General Public, and is about a 7-8 minute walk to Booth Hall.

Very good museum noting the history of Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence was an abolitionist town in the pre-civil war era and was subject to many atrocities commited by pro-slavery settlers, mostly from Missouri. Great info on Quantrill's Raid.

This museum is well-done and captures the life of one of Kansas's most well-known citizens. Regardless of your political affiliation, Bob Dole's life story is fascinating and inspirational. The stained glass windows representing Russell, Kansas and the American flag are stunning when the light shines through! The museum offers interesting lectures and programs that are open to students and the public - well worth the time! Many are also available digitally.

Lawrence residents can be grateful for the excellent resources provided by this local library. The facility is impressive, as are the available resources and employees. They were kind enough to automatically renew my items when I forgot to return on time. Compared to other libraries, the hours are great. Parking is always easy.

I did a day trip to Lawrence from Kansas City with a friend. We did two museums and lunch there on KU Campus. Recommend parking at KU Union. Spencer is just down the hill from KU Union. This was our afternoon trip (after lunch). Spencer as of July only has the main gallery open as they are working in setting up another exhibit, so other galleries were closed. But that did not stop our enjoyment of the exhibit that was available. I do look forward to a future visit when they open up the other galleries. FYI there is no cost to this museum but they encourage a donation (of your choice)

Was in Lawrence however the basketball team was away. Decided to take the tour which allows you access to the actual court and seating area. Easton (student) was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and showed us the important aspects of the Fieldhouse and history. Highly recommend for any true sports fan. Rock Chalk!

Glad to find clean restrooms on Mass Street in downtown. Plenty of info for visitors about all the attractions of Lawrence. Always a friendly host or hostess there to greet you.

I was uplifted to discover the Park and Nature Center while on a bike ride along the Lawrence Loop Trail. What a fascinating local resource with unique, exotic rescued creatures that really need the loving care they receive. Knowledgeable staff allow for as much or little interaction as you desire. I've returned many times since and developed a special interest in the Raptors, especially the Golden Eagle, Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, and Barred Owls.
This is not to be confused with a zoo, it's more of a wildlife rescue facility that provides a variety of educational opportunities for kids as well as adults. Nice display about solar power and sustainable energy.
The park has a lovely walking trail and small lake where I usually see a child or 2 being taught to fish. It's a very serene and peaceful break from the noise and busyness of sub-urban life. Never crowded, though I've seen children on field trips in the classroom area, which is heartwarming.
