Our toddler son enjoyed being able to see the birds and feed the koi fish, and the park at the end was a great way for him to play while we shared a meal from the café.
The nature and the life which surrounded it was great, the view point and especially the place where you can feed the birds.

La Soufriere Volcano Saint-Claude
#3 of 44 Nature & Parks in Basse-Terre Island
It was hard for me to find specific info about the La Soufriere hike in english, so here is all you need to know: - Park your car at Bains Jaunes (up from Saint Claude).
Finding the entrance to the park is a little hard but once you find it, you can easily follow the trail to the volcano.

Safe bathing and selection of restaurants and cafés at the car park.
It is never crowded (or you can have such impression sometimes on high season, Sundays, close to car park) see the pictures of other Reviewers.

Plage Leroux Deshaies
#5 of 44 Nature & Parks in Basse-Terre Island
Also recommend it as a quick stop beach if you are just passing by, because, even if you have to park up at the road, it is a quick walk to the water and easy in and out.
You can park down the street across from the beach.

Don't forget to bring everything back with you, too, as it is a protected National Park.
#8 of 44 Nature & Parks in Basse-Terre Island
Amazing zoo doing loads of good things for animals and nature in the Caribbean
Another highlight for us was the canopy walk - you get to walk high above the park via suspension bridges.

Beautiful National Park on Basse Terre In Guadeloupe with many hiking trails
Be sure and take plenty of water on your travels through this awesome National Park.
#10 of 44 Nature & Parks in Basse-Terre Island
A paved trail with many steps lead from the park entrance to the fall, really easy going.
Going to the first fall (the second :)) is just a wee walk in nature, the excitement is just getting to the second fall (the first).
Ilet Caret Sainte Rose

... I have seen them work and they are worth the money, the service being excellent and including a lot of explanations and interesting facts about Guadeloupe, its customs, food, drinks and most importantly nature.

We discovered this beach our last day by chance - it pays to stop sometimes and take a look! Park at the roadside pull out - walk a few minutes down to the beach.
Looking for a secluded paradise not far from where you park? BINGO!

We initially went to the side across from the car park and found there were lovely wooden shelters built with tables for families to sit and eat etc, there was a river with lots of places further in to have a swim...
Well signposted, accessible along a made path and only about half a mile from the car park.

#16 of 44 Nature & Parks in Basse-Terre Island
A small but very nicely arranged park that has to offer something for each age group, from a typical creole house and historical info on Guadeloupe to expositions on piracy, kids playground/tree house, nice picnic...

An excellent collection of trees, palms, flowering shrubs and perennials, including a fine orchid collection set on the edge of the national park rainforest.
The botanic gardens are beautiful, the nature walk calm and relaxing and the kids activities as well as the possibility of enjoying a coffee or a meal very welcome.
