Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- DogchickInverness, FL16 contributionsWent at sunrise and sunset. Found some beautiful shells at low tide. This is a place you have experience! - Michael AChesapeake, VA1,303 contributionsGreat place to visit, especially for kids. Learn all sea turtles and the efforts to preserve them and rescue turtles that are hurt or sick. - journalmytripsGeorgia733 contributionsWe had visited the Mosaic Museum a few years ago but had not done the tram tour of the historic district so we decided to do that on this visit. You can buy tickets in advance or buy tickets at the museum. The tour was well narrated and included a visit to Mistletoe cottage which was decorated for Christmas. If you go at a different time, you may visit a different cottage. All of these are owned by the state of Georgia. This tour lasts about an hour.
That evening we returned for the self driving tour to see the holiday lights. This display is beautifully done and very popular.Written 4 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lasted about an hour. The tour guide was very informative about the history on the island. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. We got to tour one of the historic cottages. The museum was cute.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michael AChesapeake, VA1,303 contributionsSpend the weekend at the Shrimp and Grits festival. We biked everywhere and didn't move our cars all weekend. Trails are in great shape and go everywhere you need to go.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lisa MRichmond Hill, GA34 contributionsWe arrived at summer waves with a large group before opening. They were helpful in getting our tickets quickly and getting us through security once they opened. Our pavilion was ready and labeled for us as well. Our biggest complaint was lunch. They stated they would have lunch brought to us and waiting at 12:30pm. At 12:40pm we went to check on it and they told us they don’t deliver nor would they bring anything out unless we came to tell them. Our adults then went and took their meal credits to get lunch and each one of us spent 30 mins in line at min. I personally had the chicken salad sandwich and it had no flavor. I was told the Italian and Turkey and cheese were very good. Not sure how the aspect of getting lunch can be fixed but I’m sure only having one place to get food doesn’t help. Other than lunch it was a great day.Written 28 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- journalmytripsGeorgia733 contributionsThis Beach is located on the quieter side of the island. Here you will find adequate shaded parking, picnic tables and rest rooms. Our main purpose in visiting was the Wanderer trail. Start with reading about the history of the Wanderer yacht which was converted into a ship to transport slaves. Then listen to the stories that are told either on boards or by audio stops and the buttons on these do work. The trail is fairly short and ends at the observation structure. The trail is flat and would be fine for the disabled with a cane though one short spot is sandy and would be difficult to push a wheelchair.Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DogchickInverness, FL16 contributionsIt was cloudy with a cool breeze. Saw a shrimping boat in the little bit of sun off the coast. There is a wheelchair ramp/pad that goes out over the dune by the picnic table area.Written 21 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - beth ann kHalstead, KS1,862 contributionsWe stopped here twice; once on a bike ride and once on a ghost tour. There are historical markers to read and it's free! It's easy to stop at, also.Written 2 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Christina WMint Hill, NC93 contributionsPleasant but long walk, maybe a mile or so to reach the pond. A small alligator crossed our path half way, so watch the trail along the way. Weren’t lucky to see much at the pond. There’s a covered area with benches to sit at the pond.Written 14 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
