Madonna winery was very educational and well done tour, Sutter Home was a bit disappointing and Napa Cellars was very good wines but a little rushed. The small tour bus used to take us on the tour had a terrible suspension. I think my internal organs are now rearranged. - GoPlaces1811801 contributionIn general the tour was well done. Speaker is excellent. Some of the best parts were when they told us some of the history of the area and the wineries. Inspired us to go back and visit some of the wineries mentioned. - btatum20143 contributionsSo overall, my family and I had a great time. It was chilly—low 50s—but bearable. I loved the first winery although I feel like we didn’t have enough time to truly enjoy everything. The second winery along with the third winery were pretty nice. So now the negatives: I didn’t like how we didn’t get tours of the actual vineyards. It felt more like a tasting. That’s not what I thought I was signing up for so I was pretty disappointed. Next, I didn’t like how the driver was always near by. It felt like we were being babysat. Lastly, didn’t like how we had to “hang out”
with everyone in our group. I’ve been on previous wine tours where I felt the freedom to explore and venture out. If you like the idea of just tasting wine, hanging with the same group of strangers for 10 hours and feeling monitored by your driver the whole time then I guess this trip is right up your alley. - Jacky BMelbourne, Australia11 contributionsOur tour visited 3 wineries: Madonna, Sutter and Andretti. Madonna gave a great basic introduction to wine tasting. Sutter has truly beautiful gardens that are well worth a visit in their own right, and have some nice crowd-pleaser wines. Andretti gave excellent, in-depth information about the Napa region and wine growing in general, and they have a lovely courtyard where you can sip wine overlooking the vineyards.
Our tour guide/bus driver was friendly and informative, if a little over-talkative.
The whole tour ran at a relaxed pace. The leisurely lunch break in Yountville was excellent. (Lunch itself wasn't included, but Yountville has an array of excellent options at different price points).
We particularly appreciated Tower Tours flexibility in letting us stay overnight. Technically this is a one day tour, but they were happy to leave us at Napa at the end of one day, and tag along on the following day's tour bus to get home at the end of the next day.
If you are a wine connoisseur, you may want to choose a tour that visits some of the more sophisticated wineries. As a local she had insightful knowledge on how to best utilize our time to get a unique, top notch experience. It was so nice to tell her what we wanted and just let her take care of everything. I highly recommend letting Jamie plan your wine tasting experience in Napa! From wine tastings, car/driver, meals, she took care of it all! Did I say short notice!?! - Carole P1 contributionWe were visiting San Francisco and decided to book a wine tour at the last minute. Our hotel, the J.W. Marriott Union Square recommended a company by the name of ‘’A Taste of San Francisco”. The full day tours were already booked however this company bent over backwards to find us a spot. It ended up being a Private Tour. OMG
Our driver/guide for the day Ulrich, remember this name, picked us up at the hotel , made a few stops in the city to show us a few sites and then off we went to Sanoma and Napa for the day. We visited 3 vineyards on our tour and had lunch in Sonoma. I must tell you that our tour guy Ulrich was amazing! This gentleman knows the city, knows how to get around in the wine country but most of all he knows the wine business inside out. e is quite passionate and loves to share his knowledge.
