Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is my first time visiting a museum in LA and I was amazed by its architecture. The Paul J Getty museum is open to the public, you can get further information on the website or on Google. There are many beautiful spots for taking pictures. At certain times you can watch performances presented in theatrical seating.

If you are into cars this is the place to go. Some of the rarest and one of a kind cars on the planet.
Parking is good, exhibits are always changing. I’ve been 2 years in a row and thought my second visit wound be a little boring seeing it all before but it had changed quite a lot on 12 months.

We went to the SF Tussauds the week before. The Hollywood one is just as good and has a lot more to look at. The wax works, as always, are excellent quality. It was great fun seeing a lot of A-Listers

We visited the museum with a baby in a stroller so couldn’t see the collection building. The museum’s inventory is so impressive, can only imagine the “collection”. My husband and son were mesmerized. I’m not a real car person, but really enjoyed the beauty of the car designs.

This is a museum FULL of nostalgia. Even if you were unfamiliar with old (and new) Hollywood, it is incredible to just be IN such an iconic, historic building. We thoroughly enjoyed our jaunt through each of the four floors and were struck by how MUCH was in the building. We even took a chance and explored the basement with the horror items, even though half of the family are big chickens!

It was quite an experience, and compared to other places in Hollywood, the price was fair, and the building was so neat!

This is a small interesting museum. Their exhibits are constantly changing which is great for frequent visitors. Do not go there expecting a comprehensive history of the Grammys or the recording industry. Before going to the museum, I suggest checking their website for a list of current exhibits to see if they interest you at all.
The museum has five floors, but only two floors have exhibits that are included in the basic general admission. On the day we attended, they had “Hip-hop America: The mixtape experience” on the fourth floor. This is a fascinating, historical, interactive, well-curated exhibit of the impact and evolution of hip hop. I enjoyed the nostalgic videos, music, and fashion throughout this exhibit. The fourth floor also has a small Michael Jackson exhibit which displays some of his dazzling jackets as well as a brief documentary which goes behind the scenes of his Thrilller” video.
The third floor had the K-Pop “Hybe: We Believe in Music” exhibit which required an additional entrance fee. For admission into the Hybe K-pop gallery, they gave visitors a paper ticket with a photo of their favorite Hybe K-pop artist. This K-pop exhibit seemed to be heavily BTS- oriented and displayed the members’ outfits from “Proof” and “Yet to Come”. There were other costumes from other Hybe artists such as Enhypen, Seventeen, TXT, and Le Sserafim.
The second floor gallery is devoted to the Latin Grammys and has some beautiful posters and sparkly costumes worn by Latin stars. The Clive Davis auditorium on this floor hosts ticketed events (mostly talks) with various famous recording artists.
The fifth floor has their relaxing rooftop terrace and cafe. The first floor is their retail store.
I think one can finish this museum in under two hours.
I recommend going there if you are a music lover and appreciate learning more about different genres of popular musical history.

If you are into this stuff or just want to do something different I would recommend. Expect to see some stuff that you don’t normally see. Not really recommended for kids or young teens.

They are currently relocating so hopefully they will be opening soon.

Went back in later part of 2019 (never got around to do this). The museum is pretty good with quite a bit of information on the different items and other stuff in there. Each room has a certain subject or information on different topics. Yes, a few rooms were small and crowded with stuff but was lucky to go during a less busy time to avoid crowded rooms or walkways.

The only 2 or 2 1/2 disadvantages. The first one is the parking and parking lot is limited during busy times (not sure how long or often it happens). Secondly, the price of admission is a tad high for a museum of this size. I could see it being $10 max to better compete with other similar sized museums. Lastly (not really a complaint but maybe a recommendation), is the no photography rule can stay but if someone needs to take a call or something similar then require people to go outside or have a small room inside so they can step in and take the call or text.

But other than that I would definitely recommend this place.

Anyone interested in our shared humanity should visit this museum. We visited on a Thursday at 5pm, when entry is free…and wow we were bowled over by the history of Americans of Japanese descent. The story of internment was so powerful and the temporary exhibition‘Aki’s Market’ just brilliant. We visited and left with an understanding of the trans generational trauma of incarceration and displacement. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PLACE. Thank you to all the staff who were so welcoming and informative…visit, it is great…we are supper in Little Tokyo afterwards!

Very enlightening! The visuals were ghastly and perfect. I was itching for a unique museum and this was exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend a visit.

We were looking for something to do during off time from March Madness. Easy access, reservations requested and made prior to arrival. Walked from our hotel, unsure about parking. A bit pricey for what is there. Takes about 30-40 minutes...and we stopped to read about each exhibit. There was an adult group of us and we enjoyed it very much. Each exhibit was fun, challenging and interesting. Staff pleasant and helpful.

"Get ready for an amazing experience! It's so much fun and incredibly interesting, especially for kids! My whole family had a blast. The best part? No rush or crowds to deal with. Sure, the tickets were a bit pricey, but trust me, it was totally worth it! You won't regret it!"

Not bad for a wax museum. Liked that there were props so you could take pictures next to the figures. I personally enjoyed the horror figures, the set up was great.

Some of the celebrities were spot on, others were not, but what else can you expect from a wax museum?

    Overall, not bad.

I’d like to start off by saying, I’m unsure why TripAdvisor says this stunning Frank Lloyd Wright is temporarily closed, since I just visited it yesterday and had a great time. I’ve been to several FLW houses and wanted to add this stunner to my list. It costs $7 per adult to go inside. They don’t allow water bottles inside and you have to put booties on to protect the floors and carpeting. You get to go through the house at your own pace and they have books with information about the house you can refer to as you walk around. There are a lot of original pieces and others are recreations of pieces they knew were in the house. It was cool to learn while FLW built the house, his son did a renovation on it years later. The art glass was beautiful and reminded me of the wheat patterned glass I’ve seen at the prairie style FLW house in the Midwest. If you love history, architecture and/or FLW, this is a place you must in LA.
