What travellers are saying
- betsnowTucson, AZ1,206 contributionsI have never heard of this cemetery but SO glad we stopped in! I normally do not gush about peaceful locations such as cemeteries but this one is incredibly unique and beautiful.
The grounds are gorgeous, and it made for a nice walk and experience. There were lots of celebrities buried here but what was more incredible were the outstanding memorial/gravestones for so many. The craftsmanship along with the $ that folks invest in their departed loved ones is off the charts.Written 28 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MartletwyOnTourWales, UK56 contributionsReviewing a cemetery?! Well, if I have to review one, this is it.
For such a small and concentrated piece of land in the middle of one of America's great cities, it was incredible just how quiet and peaceful it was. The lawn is also very well kept and it is a clearly very respectful final resting place for those who have been laid to rest here.
Then of course are the names themselves - a veritable who's who of 20th century entertainment. Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin are just two of the big hitters but for me, the greatest of all is the 'Big O' - Roy Orbison who lies in an unmarked grave. But just knowing that he is there is enough for this big fan.
Much more accessible than many other 'celebrity cemeteries' in LA, this is a must visit for those who, like me, have a natural pull towards such places.Written 4 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - The Santanas2 contributionsWe never imagined that making this decision would be so important, but it is. Unfortunately, not many make it until it is needed. Therefore, the ease of the whole process and the great service from our representative was appreciated.Written 5 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dan WPortland, OR1,983 contributionsSurrounded by busy noisy freeways this is something that’s easy to miss. I happened to go by and decided to check it out in a very respectful way. From the statues at the very front entrance to all of the graves and other remarkable landmarks inside the grounds, this is a very sobering and touching experience. Probably not for everyone but after seeing the cemeteries in Normandie and Flanders last summer, I found this resting place, too, earns a well respected recommendation for those who appreciate the sacrifices made and wish to explore a bit of the history.Written 4 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- jfaddsNaperville, IL4,725 contributionsLocated in the San Fernando valley
literally next door to the San Fernando Mission where one can find Bob Hope’s grave-is the final rest for such figures as Chuck Connors , the rifleman of 50’s t v ,
Walter Brennan and Mr. LaBamba himself- Richie Valens.
Look up location online before you go or you will never find itWritten 24 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Daniel CLos Angeles, CA146 contributionsI have never been IN to the cemetery although I walk by it frequently. And the view is awesome. I wanted to point out, however, that you cannot actually go in to the cemetery unless you make an appointment. It is entirely surrounded by fencing. I live fairly close and it is a beautiful walk on the little winding road up to and past the cemetery. The view from the road is fantastic and the circular walk is perfect exercise.
If you call to make an appointment and take the “tour,” I hope they tell the story about the mudslide.Written 2 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - David B LLos Angeles, CA8,326 contributionsMount Sinai Memorial Park is located right next to Forest Lawn, so it's convenient to visit both when in the area. We really enjoyed the wall art mosaic mural - it's very well done. Peaceful to walk the lawns, respectfully. Several friends interred there. ...Written 17 December 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sarah A.1 contributionGO ANYWHERE ELSE. I worked with Lorena Garcia and she is HORRIBLE. For our initial appointment at my time of need, we had an appointment at 1pm and she called me at 5:30pm because she was “busy with other families”, as if I wasn’t in need of arranging my fathers funeral, even though we already had a pre-need contract with her. I would call and leave her messages and she would never respond, I would email her, and she would never respond. I would text her, and she would respond with a half answer. It got to the point where I had to had my uncle try and communicate with her because I was getting sick from the stress of the entire situation. She eventually sent me a contract to sign, which had clauses that stated something other than what we discussed, and I responded saying I couldn’t sign that because we had discussed one thing and the contract stated another. A week later without a response, I decided to call her and she said she would be resending the contract. She never did. However, she had the audacity to call me ONE DAY before my dads funeral saying (and I’m swear I’m not paraphrasing) “So I’m calling because I’m assuming the funeral is canceled” even though everything had been paid in full weeks prior. Her logic behind this phone call was that I never signed the “updated” contract she sent. I asked her to send me a screen shot of the supposedly sent email, and when she does, it says “document last edited Feb. 9th, Document last sent Feb. 6th”. This incompetent fool never hit “send” and is claiming I never signed that document. Of course I never signed a document I never received! When I attempted to report this unprofessional behavior (screen shots readily available) with her “supervisor” Cheryl Lewis, I had to wait a week to get the most insincere, generic “fill in the blank here” email. I have never expected them, or anyone, to feel my pain, but I did expect competence, professionalism, and some sort of understanding to my urgency, but no. I was just met with half answered questions (If I even got an answer), and a lot of disinterested other than their diligence in getting my money.Written 26 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vpvalenciaSanta Clarita, CA59 contributionsI have six relatives here dating back to 1962 and over the past few years this place is poorly maintained and getting worse. If I could, I would move all the bodies to a nicer place to visit.
Grass is overgrown or missing with dirt patches throughout, grave markers have weeds covering the headstones, others are shifting and exposed. Prices are outrageous and after not paying triple price for a new marker, I was charged $1400 to install it. Went to see it today and the neighbors two headstones were covered in dirt from placing our marker.
Nobody cares and requests/phone calls go unanswered. I was told the facility was sold a few years back to Dignity - however there is no Dignity or respect for the deceased here. I told my kids to stop the cycle and put me at peace in another facility.
This place is no more than a dirty back yard, especially in the older sections as the grass is gone and dirt covers most of the grave sites. I'm not mad - I'm sad ...Written 25 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
