To visit LA's The Baked Potato is a pilgrimage for musician and music lover.
This is where the best of the best LA musician play and let loose. This is the place where the musician expressed their love of music and hang with other musician.
Don't expect them to play your favorite tunes (although they will do it) and expect a long-jam full of improvisation to really go outside the musician's comfort zone.
This place only seat, maybe 80 people and a lot of standing room, but the place is always packed.
The food is mainly Baked Potato (duhhh) with different topping and it is tasty.
This place have certain "Aura" where everyone from the legendary 70's LA Wrecking Crew, 80's LA Session Master (Toto, Landau, Ritenour, Holdsworth, etc), rockstar (Eddie Van Halen, etc), Jazz great (Dave Grusin, Larry Carlton, etc) to the latest star such as Joe Bonamassa have played in this place.
The sound is loud, but that's is what you want to hear. Because such a small space, you literally sitting or standing not 3 feet from the player and it is such a joy to see your star idol just playing their heart out.
There are so many recording made in this small club and it will say "Live at Baked Potato".
Simply put, The Baked Potato can be put in the same level as Whiskey A Go-Go, The Rainbow, Ronnie Scott (UK) where the wall have so much story to tell if they can talk.
