Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I would highly recommend this amazing tour. The only drawback is it's a long day, starting about 7am and not getting home until 10.45pm. But it's worth it to be able to fit so much into a one-day tour from Athens. Going part way by train is excellent - it's more comfortable and you get some amazing views of the plateaus and mountains you travel through. The public bus is only perhaps 1.75 hours of the journey. The lovely Penny and Mr Stathis met us in a mini bus at Kalabaka station and from that point, we spent 5 hours without wasting a moment.

We stopped at many amazing viewpoints during the day to really see the monasteries and photograph the stunning landscape. We also went inside 3 monasteries (St Stephen, Varlaam and Roussanou, but this is variable as different monasteries are closed on different days), and we saw all the other monasteries from a distance, and in between we had a quick but delicious lunch (not included in price). Admission to the monasteries is also extra, but it's only about 3 Euro each. Ladies do literally have to wear a skirt (not long pants) but the tour company provided those to put over our clothes.

Varlaam and Roussanou had 100 - 150 steps each, but they were neat and not hard to climb. St Stephen is the only monastery with no steps to get up (there are small staircases inside). Great Meteoron and Aghia Triada have 300 steps. If you have very limited mobility, you can't 100% guarantee you will be able to see inside one, but your chances are good, and if the weather is ok you will definitely get to see them from the outside.

Meteora is not like any other sight I have seen and this tour was the best way to see them - I can't imagine how it could have been better.

We spent a day hiking around Meteora on our own, but would have missed out on so much of the depth of the experience if we had not taken the VisitMeteora tour! Dimitrius our guide and Sotos our driver were amazing. They shared the history of each monastery, the hermitages, the details of the towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki, the geological formation of the landscape, the religious and military context of the area, and even great restaurant recommendations. It was fantastic.

We were fortunate to be the only guests for these two days. We had a total of 9 hours of guided tour and visited a total of 4 monasteries, the hermit caves and the spectacular sunset rock over the 2 days. We had sufficient free time to enjoy the town as well. The local knowledge from Antonios and Joanna was so interesting and made this trip an experience we will remember for a lifetime. This is a MUST do if you are thinking about visiting Meteora.

A wonderful day with the team from Meteora Thrones. Maria was an excellent guide. Kind, lovely girl with a lot of knowledge about what she talks about. We were returning by train to Thessaloniki and she made sure all the time that we don't miss the train. I highly recommend Meteora Thrones to everyone planning to visit Meteora, you won't regret it. :)

The operator informed me that rail was unavailable and asked if I was still keen to proceed traveling via intercity bus. He gave very clear instructions and the pickup at Kalambaka was prompt. I like how the guide and driver were very experienced and took many wonderful photos for me which is rare particularly when I am traveling solo. The bus from Kalambaka to Thessaloniki was the same vehicle even though two separate tickets were issued and made it easy for me not to have to change bus at Trikala station. I recommend visiting Meteora during autumn as it is offpeak (lesser visitors) and and the weather is cooler. The whole tour takes a very long time and be sure to stay hydrated and keep some snacks with you when you are planning to join this tour.

It was a wonderful private tour, well planned and efficiently executed. Maria was a storehouse of interesting information. We were taken to the 3 important monasteries and covered everything we wanted to see, in the limited time available. Thank you Maria and Nick and all the best. Highly recommended.

Last-minute changes to the train schedule from Thessaloniki were communicated in advance and clearly by the team. They gave us a few different alternatives to get to Meteora, we chose a private transfer. It was well worth it.

The tour itself was informative, and our guide was extremely knowledgable and passionate about the place. She brought the history and stories of the monasteries alive.

    We thoroughly enjoyed the day.

This is definitely a tour worth doing. Amman Express, the local agents are to be congratulated for their organisation. Eleni the guide was excellent at her job and Dimitri's a very safe driver. The tour is a long one but Medeora is magical and we visited 2 monasteries and saw magnificent landscapes

This entire experience was incredible! From scheduling—they were so accommodating—and they took care of everything! Detailed instructions were easy to follow. The boutique hotel in Kalambaka was excellent! The tour guides were so knowledgeable, friendly, and interesting. The tour van was clean and comfortable, very well maintained. Meteora is a must see for sure, but going with MeteoraTrip makes it even better!

Visit Meteora was amazing with wonderful precise train transfers, hotel accommodation and tours. We did the Sunset Tour (wonderful knowledgeable tour guide named (Dimitre) Jim) and the Hiking Tour with Costos (wonderful guide up and down amazing trails who again had wonderful knowledgeful of the area). I completely loved both tours and highly recommend Visit Meteora for their great service and smaller personal tours.

I really enjoyed the trip. They organised it very well. We got train tickets and then the taxi took us to the hotel. Guides where amazing they told us loads about history of the places. We saw many monasteries, visited some of them. The sunset was beautiful. We choosed to do the track next day. I can only recommend it.
