We had the most fantastic day at Benguela Cove - great food, wine, service and scenery topped off with a perfect evening estate tour.

We celebrated our parent’s 70th birthday and the service provided by Charmonay (restaurant) and Cleeve (wine tour) was fantastic.

The owners have done an amazing job with an immaculate, world class facility featuring some amazing art and sculptures.

Just love this shop with stunning art works and really different gift ideas. Sadly due to Covid they had to move to the art walk close by. So worth making the effort to find them. The guys that own it are really friendly. We saw some wonderful work in progress when we were there. We truly hope that this latest outbreak doesn't affect them too much but we'll definitely be back. Sadly they didn't have the Ellies we were looking for but maybe next year.

This largely pedestrianised area has much to reccomend it - providing a shopping experience from high-end boutiques through to tourist souvenirs, local arts and crafts and a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the surroundings - what a pleasure it was to wander round and enjoy the charm of this special historic centre!

On a windy overcast day we spent a couple of hours visiting and shopping and as per all South African Malls the usual chain stores were prominent with the odd individual store selling tourist items for gifts

A few restaurants and coffee shops along with banking ATMS were available but I’ve never seen so many stores selling “ Takkies “ being sports or trainers and sadly no shoe shops for men apart from old fashioned styles in Woolies and nothing more

8/10 is the rating from my opinion

We travelled around SA and this is the BEST wine shop.
Jaco’s knowledge about the wines, stories and wit is simply superb. He knows it all… and I did ask a lot of questions.
He was super generous with his time and wines. Thank you so much.
I am excited to take them back to London and share with my wino friends.
It would be impossible to find these wines in Europe and we are very grateful.
Quality gin and many tastings are also on offer together with a through explanation by the fabulous Paul. My husband got quite a lesson.
Will recommend to anyone visiting the area, even if not you should come here if you love wine and you want the best selection and top service.
    Thank you guys x

A visit to The Book Collector is like a ramble through time and old treasures. It’s the kind of place you imagine your own library might have looked like if only you’d taken the time. You pick up books and smell them, you don’t just open them, you turn them over in case something unexpected drops out. (I believe that happens occasionally.) There are writers from the past, books you didn’t expect to find. These are books from other people’s lives, you feel you’re looking into what moved their readers then, and it moves you now. There’s something for everyone here, from the popular to the arcane, and if you want something, they’ll either have it or they’ll find it for you. Chris and Benade are simply ... book lovers. You feel it as you walk in the door. If you love books, this is the place to lose yourself for an hour.

For something old - different - a collectible - they will probably have it. You can get lost going from room to room. You will find something from your past there and will leave with rekindled memories if nothing else.

Hemingways is just delightful. Every nook and cranny has been uniquely displayed to transport the visitor into the delights of reading. They have just moved to their new store just behind Pick n Pay in the parking area, and have managed to keep the magic of their ambience and offering. The owner is delightful and welcoming, and we just love the two resident cats sitting on their rockers in the porch of the store.

Eclectic mix of reggae, colour and incence!
The music will be loud, the staff will be friendly and you will walk out with something new that you will love.
From tie-dye to vynil , bags to umbrellas- this store will definitely solve any niche flavour you require. Be ready for heaps of incence, good vibes and hippy realness.
Great value for money, they also accept cards.
