What travellers are saying
- Linda JAtlanta, GA41 contributionsVery touristy and overpriced but some good restaurants. We went there to catch the ferry to Robben Island and then walked around afterward for a few hours. There are much nicer places to spend time in Cape Town.Written 23 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CRLsrating677 contributionsKids always seem to love aquariums, and our kids loved this place. We wanted to try to the diving experience but they have limited time spots available. Technically, the aquarium does not have the true junction between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.Written 13 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Linda EBeverly Hills, CA3 contributionsI went through the museum with a guide who was displaced by the District Six devastating program. He personalized our tour and I would highly recommend that experience.Written 25 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- mingchi86York, UK104 contributionsSome absolutely stunning pieces, lots of interesting contemporary work. A couple of spaces were not open to the public but still lots to see. The building itself is worth a visit alone if you're into concreteWritten 19 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MCHands1972Vanderbijlpark, South Africa165 contributionsWhen I think about Cape Town, my mind immediately takes me too the Saturday Market at the Old Biscuit Mill.
A fantastic selection of international cuisines, great music and a fun environment, not to be missed by anyone of any age.

A beautiful museum Wel looked after. Lots of fascinating details and a reminder why we must never forget crimes of the past. Helpful, insightful staff.Written 13 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jaine H7 contributionsAfter two years closure(due to Covid19 restrictions) I am happy to say that the Heart of Cape Town has reopened.
I took my home school students for the tour yesterday and it was fantastic.
This was my third tour with students and the tour guide Cindy was the best. She is an oracle, not a doctor, who is totally invested in the history of Chris Barnard and his team who performed the World's , first ever, heart transplant.
She is articulate, while using plain speak on the technical aspects while sharing small anecdotes that add humor and breath life, into what could be a sterile tour - excuse my puns.
Amazing life life exhibitions transport the visitor back to that historic night.
My students aged 11 and 12 (grade 6) were fascinated throughout the tour. No better way to learn history than through the experience.
This tour is Cape Town's best educational and tourist attraction. Don't miss it.Written 11 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Donal JJarfalla, Sweden101 contributionsThis is a beast!! the place is huge and the range of shops is stupendous. You can get lost in here for hours. Everything from lots of dining options to all types of brands and names. From toys to sports to furniture and groceries, all under one roof.Written 25 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Linda JAtlanta, GA41 contributionsWe walked up without a reservation and were immediatley offered a tour with just our family. Marlene was a great guide and we learned a lot about the history of diamond mining. Getting to see the jewelry craftsman at work was also very interesting. It is a bit uncomfortable at the end when you end the tour in the jewelry showroom but we did not buy anything.Written 23 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dale gDubai, United Arab Emirates85 contributionsWe experienced this as a family of 4, with two children, 4 and 9 years old. it was a great for them and us adults found it exciting aswell. the planetirum was educational and the exhibits were in great condition .Written 12 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,128 contributionsHoused in one of the most distressing vestiges of colonial power, this museum is moving, not to say shocking the visitor. Enslaved people were kept here after its construction by the VOC (Dutch East India Company) in 1679. The history is told very well in the dimly lit corridors of the ground floor of the building. It took me much longer than anticipated to study and read all written texts. The time lines on the walls are a bit complicated to follow as well.
On the upper floors there are other exhibits. For me the most interesting was the collage like presentation of the struggle against Apartheid since 1948. Sometimes rather chaotic, but still the point is very well made: rascist rule did not go away easily, the people had to struggle hard and faced brutal repression.

Good selection of stores, plenty of places to eat and it’s blessedly cool. Pleasant modern vibe, a fun place to visit when you’re at the Waterfront.Written 8 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- ludwig3 contributionsThe tasting centre here is well-appointed and I learned so much about wine I was blown away, this winery is on a hill facing north with a view of the valley below✓ I've been looking for this wine at my bottle store every time since I visited😁Written 25 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
