What travellers are saying
- JulesGermany1 contributionIf you are searching for a place to take impressive pictures or enjoy a walk surrounded by colorful houses- then this is the place for you.
Bo-Kaap is an area in Cape Town which is known for its colorful and unique houses, which will definitely put a smile on your face :D
I personally am always fascinated by pretty exterior design and fancy cities, so this area is definitely unforgettable.
There were quite a few poor people though, who came up to us and begged for money, so I will recommend to still take extra care of your belongings, even in this doll town.Written 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Roshni MakhijaUnited Kingdom17 contributionsBeautiful coloursed houses, history and very touristy, i would spend a coffee break, picturesm know the history and head out. We had a day and a half in caeptown and we managed to do these 5 spots, Uber is cheap to go to nearby places and the rest we managed to take athe HOP ON - HOP OFF to boulders beach and the cape of good hope which were good enough.Written 21 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DamonAtlanta, GA32 contributionsBeautiful art in a beautiful neighborhood!! Very small but packs a punch with the beautiful art that they have. If you're looking for pieces of history and culture this is the place. The artwork was phenomenal. Also got a chance to see the artist creating more beauty while there.Written 22 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands3,128 contributionsThis square in front of the Groote Kerk is in Central Cape Town. A statue of Jan Hendrik Hofmeyr is in the middle of the square. He was a South African politician representing the Afrikaander population during the late 1800s. Perhaps a more important monument is in remembrance of the enslaved people that were bought and sold here during the 1700s. It is at a corner of the square near Spin street. Names of the victims are written on black square blocks.Written 26 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ahmed-HashemCairo, Egypt67 contributionsActually I thought that "Palm tree mosque" is the oldest mosque in South Africa but the Imam of the mosque told me about "Al Auwal Mosque" and it was really nice to visit it. It's in Bo-Kaap area which is very famous by it's colorful houses. The mosque is not big but really it's very nice feeling when you visit and pray in the oldest mosque in South Africa which is established by the Indonesian imam Abdullah Qadi Abdu Salaam in 1794 who is also wrote a handwriting copy of a the Holy Quran from memory when he was in the prison and that old copy is still in the mosque till now.Written 13 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Alexx_CPHCopenhagen, Denmark59 contributionsI stumbled over Art du Cap when I was on a photo walk with a professional photographer.
On most days you will have the opportunity to talk to the painter.
When you are in Bo-Kaap you should have a look.Written 10 May 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - dixielucySan Francisco11 contributionsGamidah was an amazing Bo Kaap walking tour guide! She tells the story of the Muslim community in Cape Town from slavery to present time. The experience was topped off by a cooking lesson in her beautiful and historic Bo Kaap home. Gamidah is a person of joy and lightness and spending time with her is a wonderful experience. Also, curry!!Written 14 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ManuelaWettingen, Switzerland1 contributionJason was an excellent host. He put together a great and varied program for us. We spent the evening and the night in zone-17 and met lots of nice people.
The next day we went on a tour through the townships of langa. It was really impressive to see how the locals live. We were allowed to drop by the music school, had a drink at the legendary jordans and tasted local food.
Back at zone-17, we cooked a traditional african lunch, which was very tasty.
In the afternoon, we went to the bycicle hub and rented some bikes. We rode the bikes through langa. The first stop was at the soup kitchen, a station where the residents can take home prepared food. The next stop was gardening and the last stop of the day was a karate class with children, which we took part in. it was so much fun.
Our stay in langa was unforgettable. We had so many great experiences and met nice people from all over the community. We can highly recommend this great and eye-opening experience to everyone!
Thank you Jason for showing us your langa, my heart is still full of love.Written 1 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - KevinHout Bay, South Africa61 contributionsIncredible. Perfect. Great experience from the moment we booked until we walked out the door –– full of amazing food. The cultural walking tour was educational and fun, getting to see the local stores. The cooking instruction was loving and interactive. Such an intimate experience being in the home of a cooking legend. Can't say enough!Written 23 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Rory MacfarlaneCape Town Central, South Africa6 contributionsI cant vouch for the car hire experience but I can vouch for a few other things about this company that should be important to anyone hiring a car from them: trust, honesty, integrity and professionalism. I have a 1989 cobra KCC replica which has given me endless problems. I have not been able to find anybody in the CT area who understands these cars until I got hold of Matthew at Cobra Experience. Long story short - despite it not being there core business Matthew offered to help me get my car sorted and reliable and back on the road. My sense from the first time I met him was that he cared more that I had a great feeling about this car, than he did about the problems he might face in getting her into a decent and reliable state. That process was from start to finish the sort of experience you would expect from a world class company who live their work with passion. The experience of getting my car back on the road was filled with religiously kept promises, fantastic communication, empathy, professionalism and a greater depth of knowledge and determination to solve problems than I have encountered most anywhere else. When you deal with this company you are dealing with guys that don’t just live for the Cobra car, but understand it too. No problem was too big, and Matthew and Jose made this experience so easy and pleasant for me. I have my car back, and for the first time since I have owned it she is going like a dream. Don’t hesitate to support these guys - if you are considering using their services - people who run their businesses like this absolutely deserve your support. You wont be sorry. Thank you guys - I’m in love again 🙏Written 20 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Helen DYorkshire, UK4 contributionsAbsolutely blown away with Nicole and team!!
Such a Wonderful & Exciting Gemstone /Jewellery Experience at The Diamond Gallery.
I designed a tanzanite and diamond ring at the gallery and what arrived far exceeded my expectations… no extra taxes to pay, brilliant communication & fast shipping to the UK.” I am over the moon” is a total understatement.
My husband ordered a new wedding ring as his 35 year one had literally worn out….. again highly delighted!
Thank you so much Nicole xWritten 22 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MLBudaWashington DC, DC7 contributionsIsmail provided the best private tours we have ever had: Camps Bay to Sanbona including stops; through Cape of Good Hope including hiking; and through wine country. He had great relationships everywhere we went- everyone was so happy to see him. We learned so much about South African politics, economics, and culture. He was flexible, extremely knowledgeable, and made sure that we had the best experience possible.Written 15 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- HappyjohnnyAuckland, New Zealand378 contributionsThe temptation in Cape Town is to get up Table Mountain and people regard Lion's Head as the 'ugly duckling' or second cousin. The climb is not as crowded, still physically demanding and gives a 360 degree view from the top. Take plenty of water though!Written 20 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kari046Cape Town8 contributionsWhat an amazing experience! I highly recommend Cape Hope Tandem Paragliding. I am petrified of heights and trying to conquer my fear and Francois and Mias were absolutely awesome. Cool, calm and collected they made the flight an incredible adventure 😀 it really wasn't that scary at all!! All round a great way to start the weekend. I will definitely be back. Thanks again guys!Written 20 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Amrei Wolff3 contributionsWe were very impressed by the presentation on how diamonds are cut. It was very informative and explained wonderfully that we could understand and the teenagers could have their questions answered.Written 1 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
