We found great results, but some are outside Province of San Jose. Showing results in neighbouring cities.
Limit search to Province of San Jose.
Galeria Namu San Jose
#1 of 19 Museums in San Jose
Easy walking distance from the Teatro Nacional, this gallery has excellent reproductions of jewelry in the national museum, paintings by local artists, basketry, glass work, carvings, etc.
Though some of the products were quite spectacular, museum quality pieces, we were able to find a small, lovely, detailed hand-painted mask for only $21.

If you like small museums or galleries this is a perfect choice.
This intimate little museum, although small, is full of wonderful works that chronicle the contributions of famous Costa Rican artists through different periods of art and media.

I recommend to start this "tour" in Museo Nacional then visit the Jade and Gold museums, go to the central market in San Jose, have lunch (if you like picnics, you can do it at La Sabana) and finish in the Art museum
If you enjoy museums, gold, collectible coins, and history, this has it all.

We have very high expectations for Science centers and for Kids museums, as we have been to some of the best ones in the world, and this one surprised me.
I've been to children's museums before, but this is the biggest I've ever seen.

It had a little of everything from artifacts to a colonial home to explore... My daughter's really enjoyed the butterfly garden.. It's a must see if you visit San Jose.. one of our favorite museums!!
The pre-columbian history museums were very educational.

The museum does makes a nice walking through feeling around the art, so you just have to flow with the design.
The museum covers covers a wide range of contemporary Arts and Design.
