It was good to see the old and new areas. Very clean city. People were friendly. The night river cruise is so worth it.

It was a good experience but the attendants were giving us the runaround at the ticket office when we got there. They said they wanted our passports and if we didn't have them we had to go register at a machine near the entrance. We showed them the passports and they made us go "register" at the machine. While we registered they told our friends that they were not talking foreigners and when we went up to the counter they said we could go but wouldn't tell us which health code they wanted to see. A green arrow and QR code worked for health codes and they eventually agreed to sell us tickets and let us go up.

They have a cool display near the elevator that has scale model and interactive displays for tall buildings around the world. They have many English descriptions to read as well to understand the construction and engineering technology behind this megatall building.

The elevator is one of the world's fastest and takes you up to the 118th floor observation deck in 55 seconds! One there you can check out the surrounding panoramic views and look down on the 11th tallest Shanghai Finance Tower and 33rd tallest Jin Mao! The 119th floor has a cafe and the 118th floor has gift shops. There is a large display on the 118th floor but I think it was all in Chinese when I went and appeared to be related to the history of Shanghai's construction.

If you buy the exhibition package for 245 RMB you get to go to to the 125/126 floors to see the dampening system. It was worth the extra money to see but I would say this attraction is a one and done kind of deal.

This is a beautiful garden. Peace in the centre of a thronging city. It's a fabulous place to go with your camera as every angle has a photo opportunity.

This attraction is best done on foot. Depending on how far and what you want to cover, it could be as long as 7 kilometers.

The main draw for me was the old architecture, which is remnants from the French concession period. The local government has done a good job of preserving the buildings so that you can still get a flavor of how locals many decades ago.

There are plenty of eateries and coffee shops along the way. There are also shops selling paintings and other creative items.
The famous Xintiadi and Tianzifang are also part of this area.

Extremely fast elevator. The views from the top were breathtaking and you could see the entire city. Luckily not much smog that day. If you are game enough there is a view/walk around the outer of the top of the building. Well worth the visit

Morning, afternoon, evening, or at night the river area is worth some of your time. The city views change minute by minute. The sights, the sounds, and experiences change with each step you take. Plenty of places to stop and sit or grab a coffee. Both sides of the river offer several venues for eating, drinking, and shopping. Several river cruise opportunities as well (day or night). Our recommendation, go anytime you can; however, be aware that holidays and dinner time (17:00-21:00) can be rather busy along the river, so mass transit will be your best option. If you have only 24 hours in the city, spend 30 minutes along the river, but be aware one could un-knowingly walk for hours along the river. Enjoy.

It has a temple built in the Yuan dynasty circa 1341 and a post office used in the Qing dynasty circa 1000 years ago. With a river run through the town, it offers enough bridges, footpath, restaurants, cafes, and curiosity shops that reminded me a little of Venice. However due to the COVID pandemic, there weren't enough tourists to support the local businesses with completely empty seats in many cafes and restaurants and whole sections walled off. A little sad to witness.

    Very nicely designed buildings.

It is a good idea to set aside time to tour the area without rushing.

Stalls selling souvenirs and small shops in the area.

    Overall a great looking place.

I walked by these buildings during the day and while I did notice them, it's nothing like at night. They are colonial, older buildings of European/Western architecture (that's what I call it). Seeing them lit at night is beautiful.

Turns out to be a rather large ship and can get crowded both inside and outside but people pretty much move about, especially about half-way through. Mostly relaxing, although not many seats on the top outside deck. The views on both sides are well worth the view from the river.

My friend and I went to a new afternoon/evening tour that lasted for 6 hours. WOW what an experience! Well organized and wonderfully guided tour with stop overs to visit interesting places, eat great food and have drinks. We visited an old Russian church which is now a bookshop, took a ferry to Pudong and back, cycled along the river and saw an old ship yard which is now a mixer place, then a place which looks like Shanghai street back in 1980s with all the memorabilia from that period and great food to taste. Both Charlie and Q are wonderfully enthusiastic and friendly guiding the tour so professionally and at the same time in such a relaxed manner that we enjoyed it completely. We saw the places we would not have known about otherwise. All in all a memorable experience, and we are looking forward to going on the other tours, as well.
