This is a beautiful garden. Peace in the centre of a thronging city. It's a fabulous place to go with your camera as every angle has a photo opportunity.

Morning, afternoon, evening, or at night the river area is worth some of your time. The city views change minute by minute. The sights, the sounds, and experiences change with each step you take. Plenty of places to stop and sit or grab a coffee. Both sides of the river offer several venues for eating, drinking, and shopping. Several river cruise opportunities as well (day or night). Our recommendation, go anytime you can; however, be aware that holidays and dinner time (17:00-21:00) can be rather busy along the river, so mass transit will be your best option. If you have only 24 hours in the city, spend 30 minutes along the river, but be aware one could un-knowingly walk for hours along the river. Enjoy.

Osmanthus flowers galore. Soooooooo beatiful. Soooooo fragrant. Just stand by the trees and enjoy the fragrance. Flowers are amazing. There’s different shades of yellow and orange. Great time to visit for Osmanthus photpgraphy.

Nice green park in the middle of the Former French concession. Perfect place for a picnic and some yoga. Many local people are coming here to dance and do exercise. Highly recommend!

We went last weekend in winter. It was already pretty awesome. Need to come back in Spring to witness the whole garden in full bloom. Great visit. Huge area to cover though! There’s conversatories, and separate gardens in this compound. We enjoyed our visit but it was a looooooooong metro ride for us coming from Pudong!

One of my favorite Parks in Shanghai. It is a living museum with a collection of sculptures that change every so often. You do not feel dull when you go for a walk inside. It is a pity you cannot have a picnic on the grass, but there is a cafe inside the park where you can enjoy looking at the flowers while enjoying a coffee.

We took the metro to Zhongshan Park station and took a walk around this local park. Most of the people here were locals doing exercises and dancing. Some places had nice flowers and it was pleasant to walk around for an hour or more.

Despite Labour Day crowds encouraged by perfect weather this park turned out to be a real gem. It’s very beautiful and peaceful but with activities for families. It looked like a perfect place for a family or friends picnic. A 20 minute taxi ride from Century Park area in Yangpu district next to Huangpu river. This is a very old and well established park with wonderful trees and flowers and also food for birds. RMB 15 entrance fee. Suggest you bring your own food although the food stall by South Gate was surprisingly tasty. You could easily spend several hours here chilling out

I have always wanted to visit this park and finally did so. It is a hidden gem in Xuhui District. It is only 2 rmb or cny to get into the park. It is beautiful with many varieties of plants and trees. I walked around and felt soothed being around nature. At the time I was there were not a lot of people around. I did find that there are many cats there. They are very cute (if you like cats) and calming to look at. It is not far from Guilin Park metro station. If you need a short respite from the city life, this place is very nice to visit.

A lot more quiet than a lot of gardens. There were early blooms of plum and cherry blossoms here now. There’s a huge bamboo forest here. Entrance fee was 12 Yuan. Quite a lot to see and photograph.

When we went, much of the south gate and area around east gate was under heavy construction, so we entered via the west gate. You need a ticket but there's no charge, and a health code. From there, the steps take you straight up to the pagoda, where there is also a small shop selling drinks and tea eggs. More steps take you up to the observatory/museum and the basilica was past it. Probably takes 30min for that entire walk, all paved and not super steep. The basilica was closed for repairs, from the sign it looked to have been closed for the last six months.

We wandered out the east gate via a very nice path through a bamboo forest. I was disappointed to not see any wild animals at all, and everywhere the ground and plant leaves were covered in dust. It was totally empty but with the huge parking lots, you can tell it gets very crowded. Likely because it was winter, we didn't see many food vendors at all.

I'd allocate maybe 2-3hrs to see all the mountain parks in the area. Theres a ton of other things to do in sheshan though, including happy valley amusement park, smurf land, visiting the quarry hotel, golf. There is a water park too but closed in off season.

Very nice clean park that's a joy to visit by all members of the family. Almost all animals co-exist in harmony.

This is not a zoo, it is more interactive whereby they have different feeding stations for different animals like flamingos, kangaroos, zebras, elephants.

They have a bus ride (you can choose covered bus or safari style to go through the different habitat.

They also have a circus show running, and different boat rides as well.

The restaurants may not be fully equipped to cater to families with picky children.

Overall a wonderful chance to spend a nice sunny day.

Enjoyed my time alone just wandering around. I listened to my own music but you could probably find someone playing an instrument somewhere

Not crowded due to the coronavirus crisis. Most visitors wore breathing masks. Nice collection of sealife. Enjoyed watching the penguins being fed. Amazing sharks, rays, upside-down catfish, puffer fish, dancing jellyfish, and more. Signage in Chinese and English.
