Our tour guide Tom was was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the area and its history. He also had plenty of insight about the area of Shanghai where we were staying I.e…restaurants, attractions etc.. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody. Thanks Tom!

Had a great time in Suzhou with our tour guide Annie. We went through all the transit seamlessly and hit all the major points. It was nice just being able to enjoy and learn about a destination without having to deal with logistics.

Perfect! It could have been a terrible day due to constant rain, threat of rain, and cool temperatures. BUT our guide, Berlin simply refused to allow any of the three of us to have a less than fun and informative day. One day prior to the tour we were contacted by Viator’s supervisor, Alana to confirm our pickup, told about our guide, given the weather forecast, and asked for any special needs, etc. Also one day before the tour our guide, Berlin also checked in with us. On the morning of the tour, Berlin checked in again to make everything was set correctly.

We started out promptly on time at 8:30 am in a spotlessly clean Mercedes van with comfortable, roomy, individual leather seats. We ended promptly at 7:30 pm despite some of the worst traffic I have ever seen. On time performance seems to be a Viator characteristic. Berlin accurately helped connect 6,000 years of Chinese history to the complicated contemporary China of today. She was bright, articulate, thoughtful, positive, and willing to share her own point of view when asked. We learned a lot, had a great local lunch and dinner, and a nice coffee break in between meals for more relaxed conversation. Nothing was rushed and the whole day was set at our pace and not a pre-determined timetable. There was no “canned” scripts but rather open, two-way conversations. Wuzhen was slightly less “touristy” than Xitang, but both water towns were charming in their own way. I cannot recommenced Berlin and Viator highly enough. We felt we received far more than we paid for. This was our third Viator and we plan on using them again.

The Watertown section of this tour was a marvelous adventure and such a pleasant diversion from the bright lights and bustle of downtown Shanghai. Sunny and her driver picked us up at the hotel in a spotless van with plenty of water for the trip (it was a hot day!). After a scenic drive through the suburbs and countryside surrounding Shanghai (during which Sunny gave lots of information about the architecture and history of buildings in the Shanghai area), we arrived at Zhujiajiao - a quiet, beautiful town with numerous canals. Sunny took care of tickets and arrangements, and assisted us with health QR codes and other details we needed for access. We went to some of the shopping areas first, enjoying fun and tasty local fare such as "popcorn ice cream" (made with liguid nitrogen) and various delicious rice wines. Sunny even helped us with a little bartering! We cruised the narrow stone-lined streets and bridges that traversed the canals. Simply beautiful. We then took a gondola-type ride and Sunny added local history and colour to the surroundings. It added a lot to the experience. The Watertown section of the tour took just over 5 hours, including driving time. A great way to spend the first half of our day!

The Shanghai City Highlights portion of the tour was the Oriental Pearl Tower (since you can customize your tour with Sunny, this was the only major landmark we had not seen) - an amazing view (and we got some great pics!) Again, Sunny took care of us with top notch service. We can't thank Sunny enough for the care she took in assisting us and her attention to detail. If you need someone for a tour of Shanghai or the surrounding areas, we highly recommend Sunny - she is great!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Shanghai. Lisa was a brilliant tour guide and took me all around the city. She was very friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable. I am a wheelchair user and Lisa made sure that everything was accessible for me. The Bund, the Old Town and People's Park were my favourite. Highly recommend this tour and would love to return to the city some day.

Tongli was beautiful and authentic. The lunch in Suzhou was delicious and the humble administrators garden was breathtaking! I very much enjoyed my guide Daisy who was very generous with her time and advice! We fit in some shopping on the side as well!!

This tour appeared to go badly when I got myself muddled and booked it for the following day - when I would have left China! - instead of trying to be joined into an activity on the day of booking. The woman to whom I spoke on the phone - Alana? - could not have been more patient with my stupidity and magically summoned up a guide and driver to collect me within about 30 minutes of my very garbled and frantic phone call. Snow, my guide, was charming company, well-informed about matters relevant to what we were seeing but with excellent English, so able to speak with me about other interesting features of everyday life in China, our smiling driver conveyed that my safety was in good hands and - along with the beautiful traditional garden in Zhujiajiao - the other highlight was the very friendly manageress of the farm we visited, who generously let me eat so many of her loquats! With Alana too, I thank you for leaving me with such good memories: what we saw was interesting, but what was really memorable and engaging was speaking with Alana and meeting and spending time with the three of you. Along with other experiences of lovely Chinese people, your kindness and friendliness will be what I will remember. I warmly recommend this company and this tour.

Had the fabulous Berlin as my tour guide who was brilliant and her enthusiasm for her job shows. If you just have a few hours available and want the key highs and a spectacular view of the City from top of the Shanghai tower then this is perfect.

Had a great time. The Zhujiajiao water town was very interesting and had a lot of nice shops. The show was very good with a mixture of acrobatics, magic and a little comedy. Highly recommend this tour.

During National holiday week in October can be very crowded. We book this private tour with the hope our guide would navigate the crowds. It was excellent. We missed all the crowds by arriving early and were able to tour the ancient town in relaxed atmosphere. As the crowds started to build we left the ancient town to a local farm and were able to pick Oranges and Dragon Fruit. The farm was 15min away from the ancient town. After the farm we headed back to the Ancient town and had lunch. This time we went to a less crowded part of the ancient town and walked some of the less traveled alley ways.

National holiday week in October can be crowded, but with our private tour guide it was a success in avoiding what could be a very busy time. To make this happen our guide contacted us to start at 7:00am instead of the normal 9:00. Arriving early we did not miss anything. And coming back for lunch made us appreciate how nice it was and gave a second chance to look around.

My sister and I spent a half day with Annie touring Zhujiajio mid January. Annie picked us up on time in our hotel for a nice drive out of the city and dropped us off at a spot of our choice. The tour was interesting and informative. I highly recommend this tour next time you are in Shanghai

Our mini tour was a memorable experience. Despite the cold weather, our driver and tour guide made sure we were all taken cared of. We were dropped off and picked up conveniently at spots where the rain wasn't too troublesome. Our tour guide, Daniel Shao, handled and executed the tour flawlessly, even customizing the tour to accommodate our minor requests. Also, he took care of our communication problem via phone with other merchants even after the tour. We had a great time and it was worth all the rain pounding on us. The history, places, people, food and mood were just perfect.
