Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Daniel R3 contributionsI spontaneously visited the South Bund Soft Spinning Material Market and was pleasantly surprised.
At Jojo, I had three pairs of pants tailor-made and am extremely satisfied with the result.
On my next visit to Shanghai, I will definitely stop by again!Written 16 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Boutique stores of international brands, culinary delights and also a premier cinema complex.
With its stunning glass facade glittering among the modernity that defines Lujiazui, the area where the mall is situated, it's a good place to shop for luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermès, Gucci, and Cartier etc. It is also home to Apple’s second largest flagship store in China.Written 20 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This shopping mall is well represented by various brands and there are many eateries here. Definitely a good place with lots of choices for shopping and having a meal.Written 27 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There was a guy there that cut out portraits from paper, pretty impressive and we did end of getting that little knickknack. We were here during the day, but saw the lights of it from the top of Shanghai tower so we think after sunset would be the best time to visit.Written 11 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jo-AnnKuala Lumpur, Malaysia17,011 contributionsI loved it because Line 8 to Qufu Road metro station, Exit 1, took me straight into the Joy City Mall!!! Convenient and good to visit when it is a rainy day like today. Joy City is pretty cool too but it can be quite confusing as it has a North side and a South side. No worries, you’ll get used to it! Plenty of great restaurants. Lots of boutiques. No supermarket. Ferris wheel on the rooftop. There’s a craft floor and Neon shops that looks like Japan. Just explore around. Exciting place to be.Written 28 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore10,995 contributionsThis is one of the oldest shopping malls in Shanghai that was opened in 1915. It is located at the intersection of Xizhang Middle Road, Nanjing West Road and it jointly forms the first highlight of the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It looks great and awesome especially so at night with the colourful lightings that are turned on!
It got a major facelift in the late 2019, which included a Naruto theme park, a 55m climbing wall in its central atrium and Madam Tusad museum located on the 10th floor.
It is considered a middle-to-high-end shopping mall with many international luxury brands, is a good place to shop and dine, where several cafes, restaurants are located.Written 26 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Take Exit 2 and you will find yourself inside the mall. Lots of restaurants on every floor, especially the top 3, mostly Chinese. Carrefour is here as well. Lots of great shopping brands are here too.Written 17 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kristine K135 contributionsSizable outlet mall, three stories in an abstract format. Easy to get from floor to floor: stairs, escalators, and elevators. Plenty of restrooms. Several eateries & drink shops. Mainly clothing stores for all ages & styles. Prices typical for outlet malls in Shanghai. Small play area for children. Please Note: when walking around the main level (street level), which should be flat due to pedestrian walk-way, many single step areas so be careful when walking and window shopping.Written 23 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's easy to miss as there are hundreds of attractions on this pedestrian walkway competing for your attention. When the street outside is crowded, or wet, you can duck in here and escape for an hour or two. Spiralling escalators? What?! Cool atritum when it' 35 outside. It's a short walk from The Bund.Written 15 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jo-AnnKuala Lumpur, Malaysia17,011 contributionsI was more impressed with the Xujiahui metro station. GIGANTIC!!! There are 20 exits in this station. Exit No. 10 will take you straight to Metro City Mall. The mall looks quite exciting. It was crowded as it was a rainy day. This mall is not as spacious as many others in Shanghai so when it is crowded, it is not that comfortable to walk around. Moreover people here do not mind lining up for a long time for food! So, ground floor has the most people there as bakeries and restaurants are there. Food is not a worry in this mall, there’s restaurants on every floor!Written 6 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jo-AnnKuala Lumpur, Malaysia17,011 contributionsLine 10 to Jiangwan Stadium metro station would take you straight to this mall and a couple of others, all well connected underground from the metro. A great place to hang out on a rainy day. Wanda Plaza is huge with Walmart! Plenty of restaurants and shops.Written 21 June 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jo-AnnKuala Lumpur, Malaysia17,011 contributionsHuge. Nice restaurants. Plenty of shopping to do especially when sales are good. Great place to chill out too. Most impressive are their toilets!!!!! Very well maintained with happy artistic colors!!!!!Written 14 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jo-AnnKuala Lumpur, Malaysia17,011 contributionsBeautiful architecture. Huge place to do your shopping if you are into branded goods. Not very good selection of restaurants; I was expecting more foreign restaurants. Nice place for photography. Take Line 2 to Yuandong Avenue. Walk left from the metro station (along the highway) and turn right at the first traffic light. You can see the outlet by now. The walk is not that far for me; I enjoyed the walk. But there’s cab service to the outlet if you prefer.Written 6 May 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
