- ScottMumbai, India24 contributionsGreat well organised tour my driver was Surendra who picked me up from my hotel drove to the Gateway and travelled on the ferry over to Elephanta Caves. Another tour guide took me one on one through the caves and was very knowledgeable having grown up on the island. Telling the history and stories behind the cave art. Well worth the tour just to see the cave sculptures. Returned to town and had lunch then we were joined by the city guide. Once again it was one on one teaching’s of the history of some major sites of the city of Mumbai. Absolutely wonderful tour. Clean and comfortable air conditioned car. Shruti, our guide, was exceptional—her kindness, deep knowledge of the city’s food culture, and wonderful sense of humour made the evening truly unforgettable.
The food itself was incredible—fresh, authentic, and bursting with flavours that perfectly showcased the best of Mumbai’s vibrant street food scene. From savoury delights to sweet treats, every dish was a highlight, and Shruti made sure we understood the stories and traditions behind each one.
This tour is a must for food lovers or anyone looking to explore the city in a unique and delicious way. - Traveler6293138 contributionsI had an incredible experience on this tour, thanks to our guide, Sahil. He was excellent—knowledgeable, personable, and full of fascinating insights.
Sahil shared a lot about Mumbai, including details about his life, the customs, and the unique culture of the city. His good understanding of Indian history, religion, and the Karla Caves in Lonavala truly enriched the experience.
One of the highlights was witnessing a vibrant procession at a Hindu temple, which felt like a rare and special glimpse into the local traditions. Sahil also chose a fantastic restaurant for lunchus. Later, he treated me to some local snacks, and we had a wonderfully relaxing time at Tiger Point, enjoying the serene views.
I highly recommend this tour and Sahil as a guide. At the elephant caves I had Mr. Sam as a guide - he was very nice and informative, but seemed rushed, rehearsed, and pushy to get me to buy something from one of the shops.
For the city tour I had Max - he was really great.
