Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Theodora53 contributionsLike no other, the drive through the Draa Valley leaves one breathless as it takes you back in time to an era rich in palms, lush forestry, and fruits abound! - SilvafalconLondon, UK185 contributionsWe came out to Tamegroute by taxi from Zagora for the afternoon. It was about a 15-20 minutes drive and was about 30dh one way for the two of us. Tamegroute is on the road to M’hamid. It is famous for the green pottery made here and it’s historical Islamic library and Koranic school.
We stopped for a light lunch at a spot near the mosque, in a pleasant square which seemed to be the hub of the town. We visited the library where some of the oldest and important books and Koranic texts in Morocco and perhaps in the whole of North Africa are kept. An old man in a wheelchair who was a font of knowledge, along with his assistant was very welcoming, and gave us an historical account of the library. He explained where the different texts originated from and what they contained. He even accurately guessed my astrological rising sign!
Following this, we went in search of the famous green pottery. The workshops are just a short walk from the Koranic school, mosque and library, so you don’t need a guide to make your way around unless you want a guided tour. It was quite idyllic seeing the old part of the town with its adobe mud bricked houses, palm trees and sand, children on donkeys or driving carts with donkeys and families outside their houses getting on with their everyday lives. There are several shops selling pottery but there’s no hassle and you can browse at your leisure. Behind the shops there is an area where you can actually see how the pottery is made. The prices are reasonable but haggle. The only thing that was a little irritating were the children who pestered us for money around the mosque area. Other than that we spent a nice couple of hours here.Written 23 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went with our camel tracking to our camps, we were taking care of very good over there, we had some great food, and a lot of fun. At the night, we have some sand storm, that was interesting experience. The next morning, we saw the sunrise, it was very beautiful and the dunes, although kind of small were amazing.Written 24 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Scenic31288902725United States5 contributionsWe couldn’t have been happier with this remarkable evening in the beautiful Agafi desert! We had an enjoyable ride from Marrakech with a driver and a guide whose good humor and knowledge of the area were a pleasure to be with. The camel ride was enjoyed by all in my group. I preferred to draw and they set me up with a chair and brought me tea.
The dinner with drinks at sunset in the luxurious compound that includes a pool was a delight and delicious!

"I always loved the desert. It sits on a sand dune. We see nothing. We hear nothing. And yet something shines in silence." This quote from the Little Prince, by Saint-Exupéry, applies wonderfully to the Sahara and in particular to the south of Marocco, along the Algerian border.
In this vastness of sand shaped by the winds, crushed by light, nature is sovereign. It has distilled majestic dunes, hills and plains as far as the eye can see, date palms and oasis in profusion.

Our driver/guide cared for us all the journey, driving a long time through tough off road tracks. We were the only people in the camp in the desert, which was amazing! The hospitality all along was just excellent. I can only recommend it and say thanks to L.Written 16 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
