I love Lijiang ancient town. It’s colorful, bustling, a lot to see and especially beautiful when it’s litted at night. Make sure you stay one night as 2-hours walk is not enough. I highly recommend Intercontinental Lijiang ancient town resort as its side door is the start of Lijiang old town South Gate. Very convenient. It’s quiet with modern facilities yet in an ancient Chinese architecture design that blends well with the surrounding ancient town. It has wide spread of breakfast too. If you are lucky, you will be able to see Jade Dragon Snow mountain on a clear day from the breakfast restaurant.
At dusk, don’t forget to go next to Seven Colors Chinese restaurant to see the overall view of the ancient city from the top. It’s beautiful when all is litted.

This is a quaint ancient town, much smaller than the Lijiang Old Town, but worth a visit as there are many boutique shops worth a look if you are one for shopping.
They have local designers with an eye for fashion. Lots of local produce too.
Lots of greenery, small quaint shops selling local products & produce.

great scenery and in these covid times very few tourists. The natural beauty does not disappoint. The human impact is significant - as ever ugly construction every corner - often cheapest possible then left to ruin. Natural vegetation ruined, standard plants then used to replace them. Its sickening this is happening in 2022. There is an airport now nearby

This park is very beautiful. It is well kept and the Pagodas in the park add to the beautiful scenery. On a clear day you can see Jade Dragon snow mountain which make this park a special place to visit.

We were hesitant going for the show as heard from some locals there is a better show in town. So that morning we hired a driver from the ancient city to drive us to Yulong Snow Mountain and a few other locations. We completed the Yulong circuit early and had time to spare. Our driver told us as a local he could get us discounted tickets to the show if we are keen and we thought why not as there was lots of time to spare. The stage was huge with the Yulong Snow Mountain as a backdrop and a very good sound system. We were seated on the first row and caught most of the action. But after the show we walked up the rows of seats and wished we had sat up in the last row and middle as the backdrop was more spectacular higher up. The Lijiang Impression really gave us a good idea of what the local scene was like long ago and the many colorful costumes signifies the different ethnic groups. But the sense of Mongolian influence is strong. The weather was kind that afternoon and we got through the hour long show taking home fond memories and photos.

This is a spectacular spot with almost unreal, turquoise blue water, which reflects the amazing Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background. Although you have to line up like cattle to get into the place and up to the lakes, the views are worth it. Go prepared for crowds and people everywhere but enjoy the views. 100CNY entrance ticket plus 20CNY minis the shuttle bus from the Tourist Center to the lake. Takes about 1 hour in a taxi or Didi from Lijiang (roughly 80CNY) each way.

We loved exploring all the nooks and crannies of the buildings, gardens and water features of this Mansion built 500 years ago, destroyed by an earthquake and abandoned during the revolution. It was rebuilt in 1998. The chieftain family of Lijing, Governor Mu received officials and resided at this Mansion.

The river is in the Blue Moon Valley and is full of nice clear blue water. The rock underneath the river is white so hence the name. The area has quite a few man made features to help with glacier protection but we felt it was still worth the trip. There are lots of walkways and platforms to view the river. There is also a decent amount of vendors and clean washrooms.

We had troubles getting here because the bus stations were not open when we went but our hotel helped us get a guide. The guide took us to a few scenic spots in the area.

Lijiang Park is a beautiful and beautiful park where you can stroll and enjoy the scenery, see the flowers and the big trees. Performances and celebrations are done in the garden, enjoying folk dances, which must be visited really beautiful.

Great area for shopping, dining, sightseeing, and enjoying the views of ancient Chinese architecture. During the Qing and Ming dynasties, it was an major junction station of the Ancient Tea Horse Road.

The murals painted over 400 years ago cannot be taken pictures of, but they are worth seeing what you can make out. They reflect Tibetan, Naxi, Han people.

This quaint, small museum offered insight into Naxi culture, and Dumba religion. So much so, that we went on a visit to the Dumba Temple outside of Lijiang for a few hours. This is worth the visit.
