I’ve visited many apothecaries before at frontier towns and museums but this one is special due to the second floor of the building and the excellent guide.
At 30 minutes long, the tour is the perfect length for history and museum lovers, as well as those with shorter attention spans.

Hats off to the tour guides, and I also loved they let you take photos here (unlike other museums/homes such as Mount Vernon).
The John Carlyle Historical House, situated just across the street from the City Square, is truly a great museum filled with artifacts of mid-18th century life in Alexandria.

This place probably has the highest entrance charge in the metro area; compare this to the free entry for all Smithsonian Museums.
Close from White House and all national museums .

One can tour the officers quarters and then tour the small but well laid out and very informative Civil War Museum inside.
Parking is plentiful and the on-site museum is an added bonus.

The museum highlights inventors with a "Hall of Fame" wall but also features interesting profiles on the brilliant people who are changing the world, like the folks who invented bluetooth, synthetic skin, etc.
Loved this little museum!

I've studied the Holocaust, have advanced degrees in American and Jewish history and have been to many Holocaust museums, including Yad Vashem in Israel.
Most museums in Washington celebrate the beauty of their treasures, the brilliance of their heroes, the great moments in history.
