Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Putting a town on the map and its history in context.
A really interesting and thought provoking afternoon. Definitely worth visiting and not just a school trip or for a rainy day (if ever there is one!)

An excellent zoo, I have zero ideas for improvement! We had very young children with us and they were entertained throughout the trip to this zoo. Many different activities and something neat to see around every corner. We loved all of the cute photo op spots with pretty Fall decorations! The train ride was fun too! There were no bad odors and unkempt looking animal enclosures. Very well laid out and not too taxing for the elderly in our party to walk through either with lots of shaded benches to sit and rest. Great time was had by all. This is a great add on activity to the Frontier Texas museum.

    Stunning.
    Unexpected.
Take a walk to the statue and then to the lake and back.
A quiet place to sit and think or to sit, or to stand and stare.

This is a cool historical place to check out. It is worth spending an hour or so here checking out the remains of the historic buildings.

Lovely home. Great history. The full tour by Ms. Janet or Ms. Laura is great! They have so much knowledge to share. I've also attended several events there and they are always fun.

My husband and I visited this museum and enjoyed it very much. On the lower level there is an art gallery which had a photography exhibit at our visit and the ballroom. On the 2nd floor, a very friendly staff member gave us an excellent explanation of the history of Abilene exhibit there. Then we went into the art galleries on that floor which at the time were displaying art work from the schools. The third floor was definitely our favorite part of the museum. In one area, there are recreations of the furnishings of rooms in a home in different time periods---kitchen, parlor, living room. There was also a wonderful display of historical bridal dresses. Another room on the 3rd floor housed an exhibit about the history of the State Epileptic Colony in Abilene. Being a retired nurse, I found this exhibit especially interesting and something I had not known anything about before going to this museum. We spent about 1 hour and 45 minutes there.

It would have been a little better if it was all in one location.. The Dr Seuss sculptures are near the train depot, a few are on a couple of street corners and then the rest at the convention center grounds. We were able to get free street parking easily on a Thursday afternoon. Download the pdf guide to your phone before going. Well worth seeing though.. also read the quotes etched on the rocks at the convention center park area

It is a great museum and shows the history very well. If you are interested in the War you should visit this museum. We enjoyed every moment.

This is the best kept secret in Abilene! They have a relaxing atmosphere, friendly (family-oriented) staff with great service and their selection of wine and food is awesome. They host comedy clubs, trivia nights and other fun events to include local artists and food trucks.

The newly renovated planetarium is fantastic! At only $5 per person, it is an exceptional family night and educational too. It looks like they have an updated facebook page as well. I hear they are trying to set up online ticketing too! Way to go, planetarium guy:)
