Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Have Camera, Will TravelSouth Bend, IN3,807 contributionsEven as is, the site is pretty amazing when you think of the history of Harriet Tubman. The house was not accessible (Oct 2024) as the inside is gutted and being restored. The Home of Aged People and the decent visitor center are very much worth the stop, even if the house is not open. Catch a tour if you can.Written 3 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Donna WRichmond63 contributionsAlthough it was possible to purchase tour tickets ahead of time (on Eventbrite, with an extra fee), we were lucky enough to walk in, buy our tickets, and join a tour within a few minutes of our arrival. More than just providing views of a historic house and its contents, (exceptional artifacts due to Seward's travels and his connections as Secretary of State) this tour focused on details of the accomplished lives of William Seward and his family members. Although our young guide said that this was only his third time leading a tour of the house, he did a fantastic job.Written 28 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - scouternurseRochester, NY73 contributionsA hidden gem in the Finger Lakes....although it was officially closed in January, they opened for us after calling...a very knowledgeable woman toured us thru the chapel...really worth the small admission, knowing that it goes to the upkeeping of this wonderful facility....A totally Tiffany Studio designed chapel; so calm and tranquil.. I can't wait to come and sit in the pews when there is a concert there...do pay a visit here if you are near Auburn.Written 4 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JuneNY1,630 contributionsThis museum is exceptional. There is so much to see. My friend and I spent about 45 minutes, I think, but we really did not do justice to what was available. The museum is sprawling and it would be easy to miss parts of it. I think, however, that we saw everything. I highly recommend this museum. And a bonus is this: no charge!!!! Staff was very friendly. My favorite exhibit was the old time general store.Written 30 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JuneNY1,630 contributionsI had heard about this park from my friend who lives in Auburn. While visiting her we decided to pack a picnic lunch and spend a bit of time there. We enjoyed our time there. My friend reminded me that we had been there before a few years ago while looking for a geocache. Several shelters, views of the water, lots of picnic tables and beautiful trees. It is my kind of place. I guess there is usually an entrance fee but there was nobody at the entrance when we were there.Written 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Theresa LBallston Spa, NY20 contributionsGreat art center in many rooms, covering many artists and themes. A lot of it was thought-provoking. I was in town for the weekend and very happy I visited while there.Written 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - napoolsNaples, FL17 contributionsI played for the Auburn Phillies in 1972 in this park. I hada 6-1 winning season as a starting pitcher. Pitched one game that was a sold out attendance promotional night for the local GE factory workers and their families. Propbaly 1000 people in attendance. We won, so much fun when the fans showed up and cheered for us. Brings back a lot of good memories of team mates and towns people that supported our team.Written 13 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George GCalifornia60 contributionsI love this theater. Large, clean and the people were nice. The movie was awesome! - PopeyeDRockaway Park, NY610 contributionsWe visited CJS Vineyards while vacationing nearby on Owasco Lake in August. We called first to confirm the hours and Chris let us know that he was open and also told us where to park since he had construction work taking place on the driveway.
We did a tasting and ended up buying a case of wine.
Chris was the perfect host.
Highly recommend this small family run winery if in the area.Written 5 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dese2Auburn, NY3,635 contributionsI have been to this center many times. It is a great place to get information on the local area and the region. They also have interesting displays about the geographic and cultural area.
The displays are well done to give a background on the suffrage and abolitionist history of the area and state. Many of the displays are interactive with audio and visual displays and signage. They even have a spot to make personal photo postcards.
There is a "Taste of New York" store with many unique items. A small gift shop is also on site. Restrooms are available.
The outside area is a good place to rest and plan your next stop. And close enough to walk the downtown area. Parking is on the street or across the street in the garage. Parking in the garage is free for two hours on the upper levels. There is an elevator in the garage.Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Currently on display (mostly on forms) are historic wedding dresses and other fashions. Other parts of the house have exhibits on early medical instruments, the Auburn prison history, an ingenious clock and time-stamp machine made by one of the original founders of IBM, and information about the house, how various rooms were used, and the families who lived there. Also a part of the Museum is the Case Research Laboratory where sound was first applied to film to make "the talkies." Unfortunately, we didn't have time to get to the laboratory before closing. Auburn has a number of such historic places including the Seward Mansion and the Harriet Tubman House to name just a couple.Written 15 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
