Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I enjoy but generally don't "love" museums, but this one was definitely an exception. The wide range and diversity of exhibits for all age groups ensured that you were engaged and attentive throughout. It also helps that it's located in a beautiful spot in Hakone, and on a sunny day, it looks amazing with the outdoor displays.

One of the best museums I have ever been at. I really loved the contemporary pieces from the Japan artists. Many of those were about nature.

Amazing place in the resort area of Hakone. You have to check in your phone, and you go through a metal detector. They do not want you photographing their collection. They have prime examples of traditional Japanese pottery all the way from Jomon to the present day. Superb gold screen exhibit. World class museum. Nice shop with high-quality museum merch. If you're in Hakone, and you enjoy smaller museums like the Norton Simon, the Thyssen-Bornemisza, or the d'Orsay, you'll love this place.

Lovely historical pottery and ceramics. Not big but thoughtful, well displayed pieces. The big surprise is the exquisite garden surrounding it. The moss garden especially.

This was a lovely little museum with come really great local art. There is also a beautiful seating area that overlooks Mt Fuji and the lake. There is also a cafe with the same outlook. A great place to relax. Really easy to access via the Hakone bus or the Hakone Cruise ship.

Went here on a whim. Don't be put off by the rather run down exterior or indeed the first room or two which appear very random. There are some truly delightful miniatures in here and even my partner and our Japanese guide (who had never even heard of it) really enjoyed it. Some nice things in the shop too. Bit hard to find but on a bus route.

A wonderful place. Charming shop and charismatic demonstration of the techniques used in making a beautiful puzzle box. We had a great time and - yes - I did buy one. It's with me now, 5,000 miles away from where I bought it in the lovely little shop. Best wishes all!

Two stories museum that displays lots of samurai armor and weapon. Not a big deal and I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. You can pay 4000yen to wear a samurai armor and have your picture taken.

We live in a hotel very close to this museum. One day, on our way to gora station, we spot this tiny place. My son insisted to go check it out. So we went into it. IT is a very tiny house maybe around 1200 sq. The entry fee is definitely over priced and there is NO other tourist inside. One one door man is there to collect cash. Anyway, there are not many stuff inside. When you look from outside, I think I see more porcelain than inside. This is the worst "museum" we ever visited in anywhere in the world! BTW, they d o NOT allow photos inside. Maybe this is why YOU don't see the interior photos anywhere.
