Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These were the biggest gondolas we have been in holding up to 18 people. It was a scenic trip that took us up to the active volcano.

While on a tour to Tokyo we took a bus tour with a cruise. We could see this beautiful shrine from the cruise. A must visit tour for people visiting Tokyo.

I found myself letting out the voice of surprise seeing the view from Ropeway Car.
The sight of smoke billing out of the valley was really powerful.
I visited on a clear day in December, and I was able to enjoy the view of snow-capped Mt.FUJI!!

Our driver decided we should stop here on our quick visit to Hanoke .
The place is incredibly peaceful, still and tranquil. I loved the rankan buddhas everywhere with their various shapes, sizes and expressions. Wished I could have stayed longer. I will be back!

We just drove by it in the Hakone Boat, but it was very intriguing and captured my attention. I really didn't know what it was until I looked on TripAdvisor!

That said, it is very Japanese, enjoyable and appreciated.

We were staying in Moto-Hakone and took the bus to first Hatajuku to look around and then partway back to stop at the famous tea house. We had tea and baked treats at the atmospheric teahouse constructed with huge beams, and then walked along the stone walkway, the "Tokiado Highway", back to Lake Ashe and Moto-Hakone. It was steep at first and then downhill. It was a beautiful walk but especially on the downhill side we found it difficult to walk on the uneven sized rocks that paved the walkway. I think this experience is an amazing historical walk and was worth it from the teahouse. I don't think I would want to walk more because of the way it is constructed.

This is great and perfect place to see a great view of Mt Fuji, with a cloudy atmosphere. You can relax while taking a breath taking view of Mt. Fuji and Laki Ashi into Perfection

What a pity it was cloudy and we could only see the town below and not Mount Fuji. Maybe another time. But the shrine itself has its value for its culture at the Mt Fuji look-out point. For women only!!! It is to call on to the spirits for protection and one must ask for protection by introducing oneself and perhaps to protect some special people by naming them (all in silence), ring the bell 3 times, claps the hands as loud as possible as respect and gratefulness.

I love cedars and these are quite impressive. But the cedar road is quite old and there is the paved street right next to it. Unfortunately no place for spirituality.

The Hakone Moto Tsumiya Shrine sits atop Mt Komagatake, which can only be accessed by the Hakone-Komagatake Ropeway. The best reason to traverse the ropeway is for the views from atop Mt Komagatake, particularly of Fuji-san, Lake Ashi and even the Tokyo skyline. The Shrine also provide a few photo opportunities, and looks impressive from afar, but close up needs some care and attention (like every thing else atop Mt Komagatake).

Motohakone is a lovely area thanks to Lake Ashi. Half a day was enough for us, even skipping the hours-long line for the torii gate picture... nice choice of restaurants.

Visited on 16 April, just around peak blossom time. It was gorgeous.

Very good number of Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms along the riverside, not crowded and generally very pleasant place.

Parallel to the river along the mainroad, there are weeping cherry blossoms too.

Best option from Gora by bus - stop at Miyagino-Eigyoshio-mae, walk by the river, and take the bus back from the next stop, Miyagino.

You need to walk a quite steep road for this temple but its very nice though. Every now and then there are little monuments located. Once you reached the temple its silent, cosy and green. The temple is a nice to see and if you have some spare time just go for the climb!

I have visited Hakone so many times and never heard or saw these statues before. The other day we decided to hike from Chisuji waterfall to the stone buddha's and although the path takes you back on the main road for a while, it is totally worth it. The stone buddha's and other sculptures you encounter are a nice change of scenery compared to hakone lake and shrine. The nearby pond and free museum with the history of the buddha's are nice with views on the surrounding mountains. (museum is free of charge but in Japanese only!)
