Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- RGB24 contributionsThe space centre has free entry and is just a short bus ride away from the central bus station in Tskuba. There is a mobile app guide for English but we did not bother. There are signs in English albeit quite brief. What is good though is to be up and close to so much space hardware. You can walk into a section of the Skylab which was most interesting. Also fascinating to see the part Japan plays in the space programmes. If you are in TskubaTskuba I recommend to go.Written 1 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TheCurieMainz, Germany199 contributionsThe best experience, aside from the view from the mountain top, is the ascend and descent. Make sure to wear proper shoes and to be footsure and have some stamina. In case you have to/want to walk in the dark: there is absolutely no lighting!Written 7 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter ChoyHong Kong, China6,484 contributionsLeaving Tsukuba Onsen Hotel, we drive to the nearby Tsukubasan Shrine 筑波山神社. It is an old shrine dedicated to the worships of the sacred mountain Mt. Tsukuba.
The deities of the shrine are 筑波男大神 伊弉諾尊 and 筑波女大神 伊弉冊尊. The two are the ancestral deities of the Japanese people, who gave birth to other deities and the country. Because of the two peaks 男体山 and 女体山 of Mt. Tsukuba, lining up side by side, the people believed the two deities were enshrined here.
Before visiting the shrine, as a ritual, it is required to first wash your hands and mouth to cleanse the mind and body.
Because of the two deities, it is a popular place for people to arrange wedding ceremony. After finishing the prayers and visiting the shrines, I also get the Goshuin stamp of the shrine.Written 31 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. i dont particularly recommend the planetarium bc i fell asleep during it, but if you like looking at space, its a nice presentation bc it shows a different perspective on the constellations that arent eurocentric
also do not know if the cafeteria is nice or not, but i found it to be a little pricey, especially with tsukuba center and q’t a five or ten minute walk awayWritten 14 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lack some information in English but overall an excellent place to visitWritten 23 October 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The exibit that my 6 year old found most interesting was an interactive 'earthquake making machine'. Also, she loved the 3D map in the lobby.
They had some map drawing tables for the children and that kept her occupied for a while as well.
Overall, it's a very small place but it's a nice enough place to spend a couple of hours if you have children to entertain.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful and will try their best to explain things in English.
There is a little gift shop where you can buy document wallets etc with pictures of maps etc.Written 13 September 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Thus, I thought someday AEON would create its own shopping mall in Tsukuba, and it did in 2013. There are plenty of nice shops, restaurants and a movie theater with 4D theater. It's fun to come here!!Written 2 January 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- coolpete20175 contributionsThe park has a quite lake. Good hiking path around the lake. A café shop is on the shore of the lake. With a large window of the lake view. It is quite and peaceful. A lecture room is on the top of water, extended onto the lake surface. Beautiful setting and nice walk around the lake. if you have kids, good place to see lots of gold fish in the lake.Written 18 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anika Z1 contributionMy husband was holding our tickets and he got on the ropeway first. I was left behind because there was an old man walking very slowly in front of me. I told the staff there that my husband is holding the tickets can you please check but he said "I don't know. I didn't see your ticket" in a very cold attitude and shut me out of the gate and left!! (The truth is that my husband had handed him our tickets. The staff had checked and took the tikets.)
PS: I am a fluent Japanese speaker. All the communication was done in Japanese. So it was not a problem of language.Written 2 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
