Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- yaron40Timorim, Israel86 contributionsWonderful place and authentic, interesting to see and feel how people lived years ago. It is in walking distance from the town some parts a little up hill, for those that don’t mind walking about half an hourWritten 21 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarkQueenstown, New Zealand2,962 contributionsThis is no doubt going to be one of my most memorable excursions, every time I have visited Japan it’s always been during summer so this time I got a chance to spend a couple of weeks during winter, we get snow where I live but this is the next level and Shinhotaka Ropeway was absolutely stunning, I was in total awe of the beauty and spectacular scenery, if you ever get a chance I thoroughly recommend this excursion, if breathtaking beautiful scenery is your thing the this is for you, word of warning though if you do go during winter I strongly recommend plenty of warm clothes as the day we were there it was -13 degrees and if you can, invest in a pair of ice spikes that attach to the soles of your shoes and just gives you more balance and confidence walking on icy surfaces- not expensive.Written 24 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - synTorontoToronto, Canada1,534 contributionsThis area is popular with tourists because it looks old and historic with its narrow streets crammed with different businesses, but it can definitely get crowded. Really crowded. I think the area is also known for its street food which is more accurately shops selling food through a window to the street. Lots of stuff on skewers. We had beef, pork, chicken and a sticky rice all on a stick. We had takoyaki. We had ice cream.
This is also a big area for souvenirs so we got some of those too.
Overall: Good to experience but you need to have some patience. Hopefully you aren’t there when the tour buses are.Written 6 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Thought we’d be in and out in 10 minutes, but ended up staying over an hour.
