We came here as part of our guided tour around Sri Lanka, what an amazing place, I have never seen so much fish drying in the sun in one place before, you can smell the distinctive smell of the drying fish, from quite a distance. There was quite a selection of fish the day we were there and it was nice to be able to see the way they were prepared and put out to dry in the sun

Visited on Dec 9, the lagoon is serene and green. Lots of birds can be seen, also saw monitor lizards and monkeys. The boat ride was fantastic, with Ave Maria boat ride. The boat owner was very knowledgeable and knew the waters very well, including where it was shallow enough to even walk on water! Garbage is visible in some places. Best to visit on a sunny/ cloudy day. Wear sunscreen as the sun can be scorching. Lagoon ride takes almost an hour. Our boat owner added the ride out to the ocean as well for additional price. Boat ride takes about 4000-6000lkr depending on if u want to go to the ocean.
    Worth a visit.

We hired a boat from Diksan Boat Tours and went for 1-hour tour. Diksan is a real hawk-eye and he showed us a lot of pretty local birds. The only thing that spoils the overal nice experience is a huge landfill site located right at the river bank - it attracts lots of birds indeed, however not the kind you would like to see travelling to such exotic location.

A beautiful Church in an area with a multitude of Churches & Religious statuary on public display. Our guide said that Christians only make up a small percentage of the SL Population but this area is a mini Vatican City !! It was a school day so we kept it low key but worth a quick visit !

Very windy local beach. The sea is not one of the best in Sri Lanka, but the atmosphere is beautiful. Characteristic on weekends, full of local people who come here to swim and spend a day at the beach.

We were led round by a guide who’s claim to fame was that he knew Rick Stein and had appeared on his programme. Quite fishy and an amazing amount of fish drying in the sun I began to wonder who actually ate them all! There was acres of fish laid out. The walk through the fresh market just showed the huge variety for sale in all shapes and sizes. Really worth a visit and highly really recommended.

We did this trip and had a lovely time, cool, peaceful and interesting. The skipper did a great job, with limited English.
We took a two hour trip which was just enough.

There are more than one churches in town named after the town’s patron saint. This one is in the Wellaweediya district. Done in a Gothic Revival style, it was patterned after the Reims Cathedral in France. The church is fairly new, its foundation stone only laid in 1936. Much of the construction is concrete. There was a wedding going on at the time so I did not visit the interior. A version of the Stations of the Cross is situated outside the church. Its exterior is imposing.

Stopped here on a private guided tour. in the middle of negombo it is very impressive. females have to cover up shoulders etc.. .but they give you a shroud. a massive budda and when you go inside the lions mouth pay £5 you see a pictorial history of how the buddist religion came about, with simple explanation in various languages from a guide book. more of a museum with great art work. Well worth a half hour visit at least.

This is a beautiful Hindu temple close to the airport. The architecture is beautiful and colourfully painted.

This is a very good place to visit as a family. Clean place, and friendly security staff. We had a great time there though the climate is not so good. Small suggestion, if possible please do something for muddy areas.
Other than that everything is cool and fun.

Sad to see that the entrance is dilapidated.... And could be maintained better.

But a must visit when in Negombo... And walk up the road to visit the pretty little church.

    This place is nice
But a certain new rules have disgusted me, in this water park there is a section where it is mandatory people wear swimsuits. So that means the rest of the water park you can wear anything,
but recently they stopped a MUSLIM who was wearing a top and bottom from engaging in any fun there, until she changed into a t-shirt.
Just disgusting......it is our basic human right to dress the way we want that includes covering up any amount we want.

This, whilst a smaller version can be appreciated because of the smaller crowds that visit. It also is a quiet and peaceful place where you can look in awe at the giant Buda.
