During my visit to Ahmedabad, one of the highlights was exploring Adalaj Stepwell, a stunning example of Indian architecture. Built in the 15th century, this five-story deep stepwell is an architectural marvel with intricately carved pillars, ornate balconies, and beautiful motifs depicting mythological scenes, floral patterns, and geometric designs. The stepwell not only served as a water reservoir but also as a resting place for travelers in ancient times. Walking through its corridors and experiencing the cool, serene atmosphere was truly mesmerizing.

For my trip, I hired a taxi from Maitry Travels (+91 98250 54667), and I couldn’t have been more pleased with their service. Mr. Ashwin Patel, a partner in the company and also my driver, was incredibly professional, punctual, and knowledgeable. His deep understanding of Gujarat’s routes and historical sites made my journey smooth and informative. He shared fascinating insights about Adalaj Stepwell and other places, enhancing my overall experience. The vehicle was well-maintained and comfortable, ensuring a hassle-free trip.

I highly recommend visiting Adalaj Stepwell for anyone interested in history and architecture. And if you’re looking for a reliable taxi service in Gujarat, Maitry Travels and Mr. Ashwin Patel are the perfect choice!

This is a great place to visit during good weather. Definitely a big NO during rains & peak summers. Having watched youtube videos on how the place transforms from a regular parking space to a night food court, my family & I knew what to expect.

The place is 300 mtrs from the main road. Taxis will refuse to enter the street due to the heavy crowd. Autos will get inside but there is still around 200 mtrs of walking to do. The food stalls start serving food around 8:00 pm. This is the ideal time to arrive as it is easy to get an empty table.

There were unique flavors & we were tempted to order so many items, but we did not want to waste food, hence ordered one dish at a time & shared it. For the price we pay, quantity & quality of food is quite good. As I said in the beginning, good weather is very important otherwise you will not be able to spend adequate time here.

Seth Hutheesing Kesarsinh, a prosperous 19th century Ahmedabad merchant, was the one who began the building of this very ornate stone temple in the mid-1800s; after his death, it was completed by his widow, Harkunwar. The temple is estimated to have cost about 10 lakh rupees at the time, now equivalent to approximately 75 crores.

Even on the outside, the temple complex is very intricately carved in the Gujarati-Maru style, with lots of carvings of deities, musicians, dancers and so on. To enter the temple, you have to take off your shoes and leave them on the racks outside. Inside the main shrine, even photography is not allowed. The temple building has profuse carving all over and a striking floor of inlay work in various colours. Small shrines with heavily gilded and bejewelled statues of the Jain tirthankars stand inside the main temple as well as in the corridors surrounding the courtyard in which the temple building stands.

Worth a visit, because the carving is so impressive.

Science city is the nice place to visit with family or friends. There is many places with full of information and nicely placed. Planetarium is very nice. Newly developed Nature park is great to hang out. Aquarium is world class with a very wide variety of fishes. However, some of the older things are not properly maintained e.g., the hall of fame and hall of science is in pathetic condition without literally no maintenance. This is a very poor sign and if not handled properly other new things will also become like this. Government must take care of its proper maintenance.

It always feels good to visit ISKCON temple. It’s Krishna Temple. Right on the road side. Apart from 4-5 stairs, it’s a straight walk. There is separate show stand inside the complex right at the gate. There is full fledged open restaurant. As one enters the main temple hall, there are big wall paintings on both the walls. Inside the main mandap, one finds peace with Lord Krishna darshan. There is sitting arrangement. One can purchase Prasad, do mala. All in all good place to visit for Krishna devotees.

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque is known famously as the Sidi Saiyyed ni Jali. It's situated in the center of a busy cross-roads in the old city of Ahmedabad. It is best known for the ornate lattice work and the famous ‘Tree of Life Jali’. We visited it in the evening and the light from within the mosque passed through the intricate carvings to display the architectural wonder.
