I was there on my own without any guided tour and it was an exploration and perhaps will visit again next time if I am still fit. I took a bus to the tourist office and brought a bus ticket and there are 2 different route or tour bus you can take, all in Mandarin so was a small struggle. Took TaiShan option and the bus ride to the main station was beautiful & scenic. CNY 100 did not include the 2 ways cable car but was told it was included, very misleading. If you decide to trek down, it will take about 3 hours. The cable card ride cost extra 45 each way.
Best to consider to stay 1-2 nights at this area to enjoy seafood and explore the area leisurely. It seems there is a restriction for cars to enter this district in Qingtao

This was a great part of Laoshan National Park but was a little out of the way from the rest of the park. We misunderstood and thought we could take a bus from the Laoshan Tourist Service Center but you actually have to take a seperate bus near Beijiushiu metro station to get up here. The hike was about intermediate and there were plenty of places to stop for breaks and refreshments.

We loved this section for the amount of shade throughout and the crystal clear water. It made for a very pleasant morning.

When we got to the fork near the entrance we decided to go left to avoid the crowds and our gamble paid off as the path was less inclined going this way. We find the path the other way was quite steep and we prefer to walk down from the heights.

Cost of a ticket into Laoshan is 210 yuan for three days to access all areas but you can also spend around 90 to get to specific ones. We think two days in Laoshan is perfect. There are cable cars in many of the sections and it is worthwhile asking attendants which ones are open if you need them. This section does not have a cable car. Plan to spend around 4 to 5 hours for this section including the busses to and from this area. I would recommend a good pair of shoes too. You may also want to bring a little bit of cash in case you need to buy refreshments mid snack as I could not got my WeChat pay working in some areas.

As a side note there were quite a few friendly feral cats in the area when we went in July 2021 including some kittens.

A great place to be. We walked to signal hill and the views of the city is great.

The coffee shop nearby is also very traditional and with an amazing views.

There is sufficient signs to take u to the top. Cannot ask for more.

Beautiful park with great views. Take the cable car ride. A wonderful way to spend a few hours in the city and you will meet many locals and their children.

One ☝️ of monument for old city and history. Small island 🌴 with lighthouse. It was closed when we wanted to walk around. Neighbouring with naval museum and connected with main land with road. Connected to seaside path from downtown, eventually take the bus 🚌

When you start your tour you are given a few floors worth of copies of sea-life. Don’t despair, it give some background and content (like a museum) but if you keep going you will get to a well stocked aquarium. It is not very big and doesn’t have a huge selection, but is quite interesting. It is relatively expense compared to other attractions.

It seemed like we were the only ones there on the day we visited. This is an excellent spot to see Qingdao from higher up. We did climb up to the top of the pagoda and it was a wonderful view of the older section of the city. With fewer visitors one can really enjoy the serenity and sight.

Whilst in Qingdao for a week recently, we took the underground train to Shilaoren Beach for a look. Unfortunately if wasn't a particularly warm day and also off season too, so not a lot of people there. We could see that in summer it would be a very popular place to be - a long wide sandy beach which looked pretty safe for kids. We walked right along the spacious footpath and stopped at a small coffee shop for a drink and sit.
It was a nice change from the city.

Great place for families! There’s lots of different things to see here not just aquarium tanks! They also have some interactive touch tanks! Things are spread out nicely so it’s not too crowded in one area!! Much bigger than we anticipated!

They have a really really huge arena for shows and you don’t need to pay additional money to see the show which is really really great!! I’m not a huge dolphins jumping through hoops person but I can’t speak for my kids 🤣 they LOVED IT! It was actually a big deal - they had different types of dolphins that did different tricks with the trainers. It was good to see the trainers really seemed to care about the animals too. Anyway it was pretty impressive and unexpected!

They do have a polar bear but for me I found that sad as it’s just one polar bear in an enclosed space, poor guy!

Polar ocean world is a bit more central than underwater world. In between shilaoren and Maidao so very convenient to either Laoshan area or downtown area.

Don’t recommend getting food there but one block over is a couple of nice restaurants tairo teppanyaki and U Kitchen.

In the past we went to Fushan mountain to climb up the hill on more or less wild paths. Coming back to QD after 4 years COVID break the whole area was transformers into a park landscape with breathtaking views and many kilometers if hiking trails.
It doesn't have that wideness and wilderness of German or American forrests, but this opened the nature to thousands of people who are visiting every day now. And the infrastructure is outstanding with lots of toilets and places to rest of have a drink.

This popular beach is part of the Badaguan Villa area. We did not swim here but many locals did and it seemed like a very nice sandy beach with little or no waves. One can see some of the villas from the beach which made it even more romantic.

A nice little beach that is relatively well kept. There are a lot of little trinkets and street food to buy surrounding the beach.

Late winter 🥶 in Qingdao, nice weather, blue sky. Place is part of seaside walk from old town to Laoshan. You see Qingdao downtown from distance and exercising, no cars 🚙 probably a lot of people in summer. We tried with bicycles 🚲 but it was fitness with too many stairs. If you like to walk or hike you will like it. If you continue to Badaguan then you discover some history
