Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Susan S12 contributionsI was leery of going but the park seems to care for its animals very well! They appear healthy and well fed with fairly large enclosures. It was not crowded on a Thursday, nice experience! One huge negative...there are domestic cats roaming the grounds that will kill any native birds...they need to be removed ASAP!Written 22 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GerryBrasilFlorianopolis, SC73 contributionsThe cathedral is a beautiful Spanish colonial style building unusual in that it is mDe with red bricks instead of stone and stucco. Inside the ceiling is made with wood.
The square outside is a beautiful tree lined promenade where people of all ages stroll, sit, talk, relax, and eat ice cream sold by yellow uniformed vendors.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The huge Basilica dominates one side & other sides house cafes & eateries.
Cut up the side of the Basilica to access an open square that hosts various artesans on occasion. A little beyond here is an arcade that houses a few gift shops aimed at tourists.Written 12 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food court is good and the restaurants outside in the boulevard were very nice and not too expensive if you’re a foreign. Cinabon was also very delicious. We’ll come back to this mall again.Written 27 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nelson CIrara, BA1,493 contributionsSamaipata région in Bolivia is a new wine destination indeed worth visiting. The wineries are friendly and at least two or three are comparable to Chilean wines. Access is rather adventurous, and a trip from Santa Cruz de la Sierra takes almost four hours on a windy road. The landscape is breathtaking reminding me of Capão, Bahia, in Brazil.Written 17 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Martina T2 contributionsI had one of the most powerful experiences in my life, watching true wilderness in the Bolivian chaco. In addition, Nick and his team make the long days searching for jaguars and other animals really enjoyable. Also, food was great and the accommodation was comfortable.
If you get the chance, I strongly recommend you taking this tour with Nick’s Adventures.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You need to get to El Torno, from there you will drive through 3 rivers and many small "quebradas" so you def need a 4x4 vehicle and I dont recommend to go in rainy season because the road can be very tricky with all the water and mud.
In the top/base of the first waterfall you can do camping.
I went with NEX- which is an adventure company, you can search for it on facebook, the guides were very nice and knew very well the place. It cost me around 350 bolivians with everything includes (transportation from Santa cruz, food and equipment)

It is a place where fans of Che has to come. There are two statues of him and a school which is now a museum. It is cosy, definitely cheap place to stay for a night. Village itself is nothing special but the views on the way there are amazing!Written 14 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert BlackieMexico City, Mexico427 contributionsI went on a Monday when they were supposed to be closed but they were open and there were other people there also, but not many. This is a great place to explore the local flora and fauna. I saw monkeys, turtles, even alligators! I also saw some big lizards but they like to hide from people and are difficult to see. I enjoyed a few hours here exploring the trails. It was hot and sunny and so I didn't need bug repellant, but I did need a LOT of sunblock, so if you go on a hot sunny day, ditch the repellent and slather on the sunblock. Unfortunately, a huge part of the park is closed due to "maintenance" and you're not permitted to enter, though there's also nothing to stop you. I erred on the side of caution however and didn't venture past the posted sign (see photos). There's a tall lookout tower you can climb that offers some views of the surrounding area. There are also some activities for kids. Overall, it was a nice place to pass a few hours. It's quite far from the center of Santa Cruz - $6 - $7 by Uber each way. Entry was $10Bs. I wish the rest of the park was open, but I'm happy I went. I think it's worth checking out if you have some time to spend in Santa Cruz.Written 30 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joe YSanta Cruz, Bolivia35 contributionsThe Lomas de Arena is a nice park where you can spend a few hours playing in the sand. However, even with a 4x4 it can be a bit treacherous. I had to leave the car and walk 2-3km to get there.Written 6 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
