Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I did this trip in Jan 2018 (Mandalay to Bagan). I originally wanted to book the RV Panorama as it seems to get excellent reviews but it wasn't available (chartered for a big tour group I suspect!).
Anyway, I wasn't unhappy with my trip on the Malikha.
I boarded at around 6.45 am (using a porter to carry my bag over the gangplank to get aboard).
Cases were safely stowed & receipts given out for security.
I quickly checked out my seat options & decided to go on the upper deck as it was open air. I managed to get a seat that had a cover over it so that I'd have some shelter from the sun. The seats were wicker chairs with foam cushions. I was very comfortable.
After an hour or so we got a mini breakfast (boiled eggs, toast & jam & coffee).
The boat wasn't full so we were able to wander around a bit.
Lots of photos as we left Mandalay & again as we approached Bagan. Local life on the riverbanks & boats on the river provided some interest during the rest of the trip. It was a long journey (about 9.5 hrs I think) but I had factored this in as a bit of a rest day for me.
The toilets on board were very clean.
I was able to pick up 3g on my mobile which was helpful.
Lunch was fairly basic (polystyrene box with rice & other things).
There seemed to be other people who were part of an organised tour who had a more luxurious lunch with their tables being laid out & a few more 'offerings' of food.
When we arrived in Bagan it was a bit of a scramble getting off the boat. I think the water level might have been a bit low as we had to climb onto another boat & get off via their gangplank.
I was travelling alone & managed to get my bag quite quickly & found a porter/driver to get me to my hotel in Bagan.
I'm happy to recommend this trip.

We've done the trip from Mandaly to Bagan which took us 13 hours (including get stuck on a sand bank for 2 hours). The ride was nice to see the countryside around the river. The breakfast was close to nothing and the sleepy, lazy stuff was annoying in the morning hours. During the day that issue was getting better.

10 hours trip from Mandalay to Bagan, nearly nothing is happening! The river is very huge, and very up and down because of this and the rain season.
No action on the river. There are no fishing villages, nothing along side the river at all. Some places, on the fare away slops some pagodas - stupas, that's it. The restaurant/ fast food onboard very pour, no service - take it or leave it. No entertainment. Sitting innside or outside on the deck for 10 hours, plastic chairs or hard wooden benches; no - never again! And don't do this: travelling with children! - it's to boring, and maybe dangerous - no staff on deck!
Ok, go by bus, boring to. Go by taxi it's top I guess - here you can make some stops, wherever you like, for sightseeing or refreshments/ lunch. Of course its not the same price, maybe share a taxi/minibus/van? Good luck - going to Bagan? - it's unforgettable ! :) Now you have some other privat ferries, the service there? - I don't know - but 10 hours is still to much wasted time!
