We were very lucky to go when it wasn't crowded and we could take our time to view this wonderful artwork of the history of Norfolk Island from the settin out of captain Bligh's ship the Bounty to the arrival of the descendants of the mutineers who resided on Pitcarn Island until Queen Victoria gave them Norfolk Island.
    A must do when here.

Beautiful quiet Island, loved the history of the penal settlement often told by ancestors off the Bounty. The natural beauty of the coastline, the pines and unbleached coral and clear water.A chilled place to go but lots of national park to walk in if you want a more active vacation.Lovely boutique shops as well.

A visit here is well worth while, best done with a guide who can tell you the stories of a lot of the graves

360 degree view of this beautiful island. Well worth a visit. It can be very windy so be prepared to be blown away

This should be high on your list for great views or a lovely walk.
We walked the Bridle track to the lookout, which was just over 5kms .
The road to Captain Cooks's lookout was closed, but if fit and able, the walk is well worth it.
A few side tracks to take you to different vantage points of interest..
A few steep sections along the way but sheltered from the sun and does get quite muddy after recent rains.

Norfolk Island has so much history, and walking the ground that so many had walked before , gives one a much deeper understanding of life struggles for so many of that time and helps us count our blessings for our luxuries of today. The experience was very humbling, and a must to see.

The Visitor Center’s museum was open at 8AM exhibiting historical information, birdlife, Phillip Island’s giant centipede, and detailing the 2 species of tall tree ferns.
We then took the descending boardwalk to see the groves of 66’ Norfolk tree fern and the Rough tree fern amid the jungle of tall vine covered trees included in the 1986 Norfolk National Park. We drove up to its 1,044’ Mount Pitt for the 360 degree of the island.

This is a must for anyone of any age coming to Norfolk. Dale the owner is just brilliant the way he has curated the museum but also his general knowledge of all things Norfolk and his very very friendly approach. I learnt heaps and could go back many times

The young man who was our guide has a long name and is a descendant of the original Pitcairn Island inhabitants. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his family legacies and the general history of Pitcairn and Norfolk Islands. We were shown around the property in the original A-model Ford 1928, which was used as the island’s first tour bus, to see local produce, the original house, the gardens, local artifacts, whaling, military history and a lot more. The final stop was a video which was a quick overview of the resettlement of the Pitcairners to Norfolk Island followed by afternoon tea. The experience was well worth the price of the tour. I highly recommend it to those interested in the settlement history of Norfolk Island.

The views and scenery were amazing and the walk down the zig zag track was exhilarating. Just park your car at the lookout/picnic area and the track is on the right following a little gully.

The four museums are equally fascinating in their own way. All have very well presented exhibits and friendly. welcoming staff who happily explain aspects of the museums and indeed the whole historic site. It's great that you can spread your visit over several days. We added on the Cemetery Tour and our guide, Sallie, was excellent.
