Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Anthony SBrisbane, Australia1,862 contributionsWhen on Christmas Island you can’t help but visit the National Park. There are plenty of places to visit and walk and although most of the park is forest the beaches are the prime reason to visit.Written 21 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Margaret S56 contributionsI did the Dolly Beach tour with Chris !! It’s a very hot long walk so be prepared take water and definitely closed in walking shoes! Once we got there it was beautiful lots of rock pools not swimming! Deep enough for a cool plunge!! Lots of Robber crabs!! And blue crabs on the way there!! Christmas Island has unique landscaping!!Written 22 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bindi BHobart, Australia159 contributionsPark your car near the Grotto sign on the side of road, it’s easy to miss the sign. Missed the sign initially. Very short walk to Grotto. Absolutely stunning spot to visit. As I’m very short it was a bit difficult getting in and out of the Grotto. Would suggest wearing reef shoes and have a towel to put on rocks to kneel on hole climbing out.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bindi BHobart, Australia159 contributionsNice walk through the trees and lots of crabs. Wear good shoes. Has a board as you climb to the waterfall. That was just a dribble. BRING INSECT REPELLENT! Loads of mosquito 🦟Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- IBenevolentDictatorIPerth379 contributionsEthel Beach is one of the recommended snorkeling spots on Christmas Island. There is a fabulous diversity of fish. I have uploaded 2 of my photos. There are little patches of coral that are starting to regenerate after the bleaching.
We entered from the beach which is not such a great idea because of all the rocks and coral. A better entry point is from the boat ramp (see uploaded photo).Written 31 December 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Make sure you wear reef shoes if you have soft feet like me. Also leave your gear back up near your car as there some big random waves that come in and can wash your gear away.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bindi BHobart, Australia159 contributionsAbsolutely amazing place to see. The noise of the water coming through the holes and the power of the waves is incredible. The colour of the ocean is incredible to see. The board walk is brilliant with a lovely spot to sit and relax. Lots of birds around as well.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bindi BHobart, Australia159 contributionsBeautiful beach, but full of rubbish that washes up on beach. We filled three bags full and left for collection. Such a shame it’s covered in shoes, straws, bottles etc, but great they provide bags to collect rubbish. Good to do our bit to help clean up on this beautiful island. Took the RAV4 there without any issues. Would definitely suggest only driver in car on way back up those two steep hills.Written 16 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
