Cool place to get a bite to eat, or if you're just looking for a souvenir or gift to bring back home. So nice local vendor shops too.

In the downtown area, you could be anywhere on Planet Earth in this shopping mall. High-end (but not too high-end — this isn’t Beverly Hills) you can find most anything you need here. Has several ATMs, decent toilets (with seats!), food, etc. Open 9am to 10pm daily.

We were delighted to discover MIA and the fresh, organic (bio) foods they provide. The quality was excellent on each of our visits during our stay in Tirana. Still proudly use our MIA bicycle graphic reuseable canvas bag.

This is an interesting gallery to visit as it shows life in art much as it must have been in the days of the communist era. There is also a section of small posters in English defining well known phrases.

Gallery 70 is a very charming modern art gallery. Situated @Toptani Shooping Center, it never disappoints, always showing high quality exhibitions. Outstanding artworks of artist Jon Kraja will introduce you a new level of inspiration. Well worth a visit!

I visited this tiny gallery the day after my visit to the National Gallery & had the same caveat regarding titles of pictures or any other information. The artworks by Adrian Devolli were small in number (16) but great on impact. I had read in the Tirana Times that there was no catalogue available as it would have been too expensive for the artist to have printed, which I can understand. However, it would have improved my experience & understanding of the artist's work if he had just written a few words with title etc & stuck this alongside each painting - this would have cost nothing. I do applaud the owners of this gallery for showcasing work by artists not widely known ouside the Balkan region.

ZETA Center for Contemporary Art - Abdyl Frashëri Street No.7, in the Blloku area of Tirana (zona Libri Universitar: between Santa Margherita Wine Shop and LC Waikiki Store) - functions as an autonomous cultural venue for contemporary visual arts, including painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, sound, and performance. Besides exhibitions, ZETA also hosts educational programs, workshops and discursive events, in cooperation with local and international partners. Over the last twelve years ZETA has significantly contributed to the vitality and dynamics of contemporary art scene in Tirana, most notably with regard to young Albanian artists.

Despite the information given on its own website and other travel sites, this museum was not open the afternoon we went along to investigate it, which was even more disappointing considering the faffing about and time wasted trying to find it.

Should you decide to risk it, this is how you find it: make your way to the Raiffeisen Bank building on Kavaja Street. To the right of the building (on the Skanderbeg Square side) you'll find a driveway/laneway. Go up here a few metres until you see a door on your left, with a Mezuraj Muze sign next to it. In the stairwell, take the right-hand lift (not the left-hand one apparently, according to a guy who came down in it) and press the '1' button, or take the stairs up three flights. There you'll find the door to the museum, with a bell to ring if it's closed. Which we rang, twice, and nobody answered.
