Over the years we have done many wine tours, tastings, and food pairings in many places around the world. so when I say this was an excellent experience you can believe me. Pick up was not available directly from our cruise ship but we were able to arrange a pick up from a nearby hotel. By the way, shout out to the Don Boutique Hotel where we enjoyed their hospitality and cafe con leche while awaiting our transport. Bouza winery is about 20 min drive from town. Upon arrival we had time to look at the classic car collection in the reception area. Our guide provided a vineyard and production facility tour in English Spanish and Portuguese. We visited during the Chardonnay harvest and were able to taste some of the grapes and see the destemming and crush in progress. After the tour we were welcomed into the restaurant and treated to a superb 5 course tasting luncheon. Following our server’s advice we ordered both options of each course, sharing bites and sips of each offering. We have not had the opportunity to taste much Uruguayan wine and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Chardonnay and a couple of the tennat blends. The 100% tennat was interesting and paired well with the succulent steak. We had a fabulous experience. My only criticism is either the transport. Had it not been for fellow diners we would not have known that our van was to leave at 2pm. We sadly had to leave our coffees untouched. Our driver did return us to the cruise port passenger entrance, which we appreciated.

Marcella is a very knowledgeable guide, she made the trip to Colonia all the more interesting. She also checked in with everyone individually during the tour to make sure that we didn’t have any additional questions or concerns. The bus was comfortable.

No English speaker. Bus didn’t come to hotel which INVER inform to me. Too late about the return bus to hotel, so I should take UBER to go airport. I never use this company.

The tour was very good and picked us up at our hotel. We then listened to our guide who explained the itinerary and a bit of history. Our first stop was Piriapolis which was charming. We went to the top of the Cero for a great view and photo opportunity. The tour takes you to the Casapueblo which is an amazing tribute to the famous artist - Carlos Paez Vilaro. It looks like Santorini on steroids.
We then went through the back streets of Punta del Este and our guide explained why it's the home of the "rich and famous."
We stopped near Play Brava and had some free time to photograph and get a snack.
It's a long tour but it's worth it.

We were so lucky to find Ryan and the The Wine Experience while visiting Montevideo. We were last minute to search for a winery tour and Ryan was prompt to reply and invite us to a tour he was leading the next day. Ryan is a gifted tour leader, kept the group entertained during the ride to the country and is a great story teller. The winery Ryan took us to visit was exquisite, the wine wonderful and the food paring impressive!

Ryan also was kind enough to arrange a subsequent tour for us the following day. Not only did he arrange a driver, he planned a fantastic itinerary for us and surprised us with an English translator. Ryan really understands a great client experience and delivers!

This is a museum that is a memorial to an event that was known worldwide in 1972, The survival story of a Uruguayan rugby team that crashed in the Andes and were "lost" before 16 survivors were rescued many weeks later. How they survived is presented in a way that is respectful but which made their story a thing of great curiosity. A wonderful experience for a visit on three floors.

Ryan is a wonderful host! He is super knowledgeable about wine as well as the locations he took me. He's a great conversationalist and did an excellent job with providing an amazing wine tasting experience! So far, I have had two wine tasting experiences with Ryan and am hoping I can do one more before I leave Uruguay. If you like adventure and going a little off the beaten path, Ryan is your guy.

The stops were interesting but the guide Sylvana was such a pro! Three languages and kept us all informed and taken care of. Good introduction to Montevideo.

The guide was pleasant and the driver was v good and careful . We had a nice stop at Piriapolis a pretty resort town with a beach . Then we had a tour of Punta Del Este . After lunch we were brought to see La Mano ( The Hand ) the famous sculpture on the beach . After that it was on to Casapueblo which for us was the highlight. A long day but well worth it .
