Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jared EPoway, CA11 contributionsI love chocolate! So when we found we had an extra day of acclimating before trekking through Peru, I booked the Bean to Bar workshop for my wife and I. Our "Willy Wonka" instructor was fabulous. She was funny, informative, and interacted with our entire group. We completed almost the entire process of making chocolate from picking our our beans, roasting them, peeling, making them into paste, and even more along the way. We had competitions and laughed throughout the tour. In the end, we were provided with our choice of dark or milk chocolate to mold and take home with us.
If you have a couple of extra hours in Cusco and you love chocolate, I highly recommend this tour.Written 4 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marco F17 contributionsThe museum is laid out on 2 floors, showing artefacts of various pre-columbian civilisations, organising the exhibit by choice of materials.
The explanations are great to give context to what is displayed. A couple of hours well spent.Written 6 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - R. K. The Coca Museum is a museum dedicated to the history, cultural significance, and various uses of the coca plant.
The museum features exhibits on the traditional uses of coca leaves, including their role in religious ceremonies, as a natural remedy for altitude sickness, and as a stimulant to combat fatigue.
The museum also explores contemporary uses of coca, both legal and illegal. This includes the production of coca tea and other legal coca products, as well as the controversial history of cocaine production.Written 12 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lucycanSan Diego, CA3,657 contributionsVery interesting history. This was purchased from the US in the 1800s and shipped with a statue of Geronimo on top. Seemed everyone though it was OK since it looked like a "native". It was not until later they replaced the statue. The statue is NOT of a specific person but rather a generic representation.Written 13 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Esther B34 contributionsWalking into this museum you can see the great patios from the old houses in Cusco. The tile work is amazing and the pieces donated by Mr. Orihuela Yabar are a great treasure for the Archdiocese of Cusco.
Walking in the rooms gives you an idea on how people used the artifacts and how the pictures decorated with gold leaf make the room extraordinary and beautiful.Written 9 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lockers are provided for bags and cameras are permitted. We would have liked more about the Incas but the experience was very worthwhile.Written 27 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rickbuck4Rancho Cucamonga, CA32 contributionsOk... This place is kinda awesome but also not very awesome at the same time. All the sculptures/carvings in the mountain are amazing. HOWEVER, it doesnt look like they are making any more, there are only like six, and the rest they are filling with cheap sculptures. The part i REALLY didnt like though was that he has such a great idea but the rest of the area is filled with these lame sculptures that are made from cheap moldings some of them them I think maybe were even plastic. Then there were all these tastless nude sculptures that were european inspired and once again they were made from mouldings. They had nothing to do with why we were there in the first place. They weren't Inka inspired nor were they hand sculpted like the rest of the amazing art there. Please, keep going with your GOOD idea of hand sculpted, inka inspired art.Written 2 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J3f_the_WandererMazama, WA242 contributionsStopped here on the way from Cusco to the Manu National Park. After lunch our guide suggested that we stop by the museum. We didn't expect much, but what a surprise! It is a very nice, professionally done museum. My favorite section had lots of costumes from an annual festival that they have in the town. Very colorful and intricate.Written 21 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kendra HColorado Springs, Colorado, United States89 contributionsMy friends and I had time in our schedule and our guide(not needed) took us to this lovely local museum. Free but you can donate. Nice displays and friendly staff. Features handicrafts of the Sacred Valley.
