Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Ted S2 contributionsFairly well organized and secure for a Latin American open air market. Lots of tourist trinkets but they were usually over priced. The vegetables were OK, the meat and cheese were good, fresh and decently priced.
The "restaurants" were a bit dirty and crude.Written 24 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VWVagsSan Diego, CA44 contributionsThis is where the locals come to shop. El Baratillo has everything from super inexpensive souvenirs to brand name second-hand hiking clothes and shoes. We found Salomon hiking boots in perfect shape that fit my husband's big feet for $35. Retail $175.
There is so much hiking clothes and shoes to choose from. The used hiking shoes/boots are in a separate white building just down the main market area. Ask the locals where, and they'll show you the way. At the main market I bought souvenirs for 1/4 of the asking price at the Pisac market.
El Baratillo market is walking distance from Plaza de Armas no need for a taxi. The market can get a bit crowded in some areas but otherwise the experience is great!Written 24 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jay H1 contributionOh man, this family were such laid back and kind people! While my girlfriend had her tattoo done I spent time just talking (in broken Spanish) about music and travel and art! Great atmosphere here. The music being played was awesome too! Both the tattoos my partner and I received were so crisp and detailed and not a mistake was made! This is a must go to tattoo spot if you’re visiting Cusco!!Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eleonora S4 contributionsEverything this was delicious! We were a group of eight and had no problems finding comfortable seats and space. Situated in a calm and peaceful garden inside of a building, this place really amazed us. Really good and fresh food, especially the Andean potatos mix!
