Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This market was fantastic. All the typical obvious things to purchase, so what makes this market so great? Are you a fresh juice person? They will make you anything and everything! Feeling some sort of way, they’ve got a juice for that. There was a stand to get chocolate and coffee to bring home that had great prices. You can get a very inexpensive meal here. Plenty to explore, taste, and shop for!!

I felt so welcomed by Melisa and Carmen. They did not pressure me at all to make a sale and that made me feel more comfortable choosing my sweater. I even left when I felt I needed a night to decide and they didn't make me feel bad at all. I returned the next day to buy it and look at more. They were so gracious and lovely and it was so nice to shop in this store because of them.
Highly recommend! Excellent selection and they make shopping fun 🌸🌼🌹

Wow, what a splendid display of traditional weaving and beyond. Maximo was there and came to say hello to me. Made my day to speak to him about his weaving and learn about his techniques in weaving. If you love color and history pre Inca, this is the place to be. His imagination is endless. Each piece is a story and just so magical in the presentation of color and stitch detail.

A lot of religious art in a carved wood building.
I've enjoyed the visit and even if youre not into religion it's nice to see the place.

We visited a number of stores in Cusco to find the texture we wanted. The Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco was the best place to purchase high quality shawls, scarfs and textile products. The center serves as a clearinghouse for local textile makers and returns 70% of the profit to the artists. Each item you purchase comes with a certificate of authenticity and details on the artist. You can be guaranteed that the product you are purchasing is made of baby alpaca wool and not a fake substitute. While you might pay less at one of the other stores, the premium, if any, is worth the guarantee on quality and feeling that you are supporting local merchants.

If you are looking for a beautiful, authentic piece of Peru to take home, this is the store. It is not full of touristy stuff. This store has handmade, quality items and you can tell the difference. Save yourself some time and shop here! Great prices too!

We purchase ceramic pieces on our travels to display in our home as a memory of the places we visit throughout the world. I was very taken with the unique patterns, colors and beauty of particular ceramic pieces that I saw displayed in our hotel Belmond Palacio Nazarenas and the Koricancha Temple in Cusco. Upon inquiry to our very knowledgable tour guide Luis (booked through Kuoda Travel) he informed us that the the artist's name was Tater, a UNESCO recognized artist, and that we could purchase products in the Tater ceramic store in Cusco. Check! Add this stop to our list immediately!

Upon arrival at the small two story shop, within walking distance of our hotel, we were thrilled with the selections of the traditional Peruvian patterns and colors. The pieces are signed and dated underneath. We purchased two items and one of them is quite unique as it is a llama. Tater's ceramics are prominently displayed in our family room and are a constant reminder of how much we loved Peru.

Everything this was delicious! We were a group of eight and had no problems finding comfortable seats and space. Situated in a calm and peaceful garden inside of a building, this place really amazed us. Really good and fresh food, especially the Andean potatos mix!
    Highly recommended!

This is where the locals come to shop. El Baratillo has everything from super inexpensive souvenirs to brand name second-hand hiking clothes and shoes. We found Salomon hiking boots in perfect shape that fit my husband's big feet for $35. Retail $175.
There is so much hiking clothes and shoes to choose from. The used hiking shoes/boots are in a separate white building just down the main market area. Ask the locals where, and they'll show you the way. At the main market I bought souvenirs for 1/4 of the asking price at the Pisac market.
El Baratillo market is walking distance from Plaza de Armas no need for a taxi. The market can get a bit crowded in some areas but otherwise the experience is great!

Very nice mall. I appreciated some American shops and restaurants after being away from home for weeks. I had to show my vaccination card at the door to get in. From the plaza it cost 10 Soles each way.

If you want to see some beautiful ancient textiles and even find some incredible older pieces to buy, stop in and meet the Olivera sons or, if lucky, even get a moment with the expert, the mother. These are the people who know about the Quechua and Aymara weaving of highland Peru. Back in the days, their shop was across the street from the railway station for trains to Machu Picchu, but they have been in this location on the Plaza de Armas for the last 30 years or so. Pablo and Gregorio are the brothers you are likely to find in the store these days, but it was Manuel who worked by his mother's side when I first found them 40 years ago; all have a degree of expertise that makes their conversations invaluable. Buy, if you can, since the items they have for sale are irreplaceable! Let them tell you about the different regions and their symbols, and be open to learning about a marvelous art form that is still alive and well, even though there are few of the old pieces left.

The quality of the alpaca products was exceptional. We purchased two tapestries that are truly works of art. The service is fantastic, and we even met the artist who designed and made our tapestries.
