- Susan L MCuenca, Ecuador3 contributionsMiguel's work is unlike any others. His sculptures are whimsical, imaginative, colorful and compelling. - johnfooteCuenca, Ecuador102 contributionsTouring the workshop of this world famous artist is fascinating.
You can see some of his award winners. Watch artisans create works of art.Written 19 March 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Gary KBoca Raton, FL14 contributionsThis market is worth a visit if you find yourself in the San Sebastian Plaza area. The 2nd floor has many authentic and local eating experiences awaiting your attention. Fresh vegetables and flowers adorn the 1st floor with bulk grains also available for purchase. I found it much less hectic than other markets in El Centro.Written 2 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- martha111Edmonton, Canada165 contributionsIn 2015 were on the Galápagos Islands and fell in love with an iguana sculpture but did not buy it.
A couple of weeks later we we walking the Rio Tomebamba by Broken Bridge when we spotted the same iguana. We were fortunate to meet Miguel at that time and went back to his gallery and purchased one. It has a prominent place in our home in Canada.
This year we returned to Cuenca and visited Miguel in his new gallery on Calle Larga and purchased one of his fantasy bicycle sculptures. His work is so unique and special. We may just have to come back next year to see what he has created.Written 18 February 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - bobettejaneCuenca, Ecuador41 contributionsI shop in Feria Libre (Mercado El Arenal) frequently and get lost every time I go there. The market is HUGE and you can get virtually anything there, not just food, but clothing, pets, haircuts, business supplies, household goods, live plants--you name it, it's probably there. Don't go if you're squeemish--sometimes it smells, sometimes the floors are wet, you get pushed around--but if you want a true Cuenca shopping experience, it's a must. I take all my visitors there; it's a tourist attraction non pareil. Produce is very inexpensive and, if you're fussy like I am, top quality. Seafood is incredible (yes, it's safe)--gigantic prawns for $8/lb. Go on Wednesday and Saturday for the very freshest products. That's when the new inventory comes in and, out back you'll find the best prices (these are the people from the interior who don't have indoor booths and, therefore, don't have much overhead). Be cautious--don't take a purse or your expensive cell phone, only take the money you think you'll need, dress conservatively. I've been told it's "dangerous" but I've never had the slightest problem. I thoroughly enjoy every visit to Feria Libre!Written 10 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- lizardMarquette_MIMarquette, MI545 contributionsThis was disappointing because I expected original handicrafts. It is not. A lot of mass produced pottery, wooden goods, cheap woven garments, some iron craft and furniture.Written 2 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- backpacker31Boynton Beach, FL5,380 contributionsIf you’re looking for colorful woven bracelets, inexpensive earrings and necklaces, this is the place to go. You can also find small bags, purses and leather goods. It’s not big, but there are about a dozen stalls selling virtually the same wares. The vendors are nice and not pushy.Written 1 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TroisChatsLiesKinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo4,025 contributionsWhile exploring Cuenca on foot over a long weekend, I saw this mall on my map. It was maybe a 15 minute walk across the bridge and over from the "old town." Plenty of shops, a small food court, a great donut place and a Multicines movie theatre. Great place to shop.Written 15 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- JFischerAustin, TX361 contributionsDo not visit the art mecca of Cuenca without paying a visit to Ariel Dawi's gallery. It is like a mini-museum full of striking paintings and ceramic tiles, beautifully composed by Mr. Dawi, whose work has been featured and exhibited worldwide. He is an extremely friendly artist who puts fair prices on his exquisite work, and we came home with four gorgeous tiles and dreams of owning a painting one day. Ecuador has so much to offer those searching for hidden treasures, and this gallery is Number One!!!Written 8 August 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
