We were hoping to go to the mountains but our trip wasn’t happening, and we called Gabriel and he told us that he had a tour to the Casablanca valley and that he was more than happy to save the day. After a little bit of debate, we decided to try out Gabriel’s tour and I am SO glad that we did.
Since were running a bit late due to the fact that Gabriel saved us last minute, we got on the road and first stopped at a coffee shop - here we got to taste a local liqueur made of grapes and try traditional Chilean pastries. It was great to have a few snacks before hitting the wine trail!
Next, we headed to the first of three wineries, Casas del Bosque, where we got to taste 4 wines in a beautiful tasting room. The Riesling was divine!
My favorite winery, Bodegas RE, was next on our tour. We were first led into the cellar, where they showed us traditional fermentation techniques in clay pots. Next, we were able to sit outside in the sun and enjoy our tasting as well as a tasting of their olive oils and vinegars that they make in house. They also took us into their fermentation room for liqueurs as well. Make sure you try the orange wine (omg!) and the Chardo-noirs (both white and red).
Following our time at Bodegas RE, we headed to Tanino for an amazing lunch at Casas del Bosque.
And lastly, we closed out our tour at Veramonte with a tasting of four wines. This winery was huge and in such a beautiful setting. The scale of production was also incredible to see.
Gabriel is an amazing guide - he is so incredibly knowledgeable about everything Chile as well as the local wines. I learned so much on this trip! He is also incredibly kind and funny, and went out of his way to ensure that we had the best trip possible. I cannot recommend this experience enough!
