Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Before we got to the White Desert on our two day tour we crossed the Black Desert dotted with black stony basalt outcrops some of which have broken down to a scattered layer of rocks. While it isn't as pretty as the White Desert it has its own charm. We walked up a gully between two ridges in a popular hiking area near Tal Al-Marsous Mountain. It has a number of volcanic cones / pyramid shaped mountains dotting the landscape which can easily be seen from the main road.

Situated close to the Pyramids of Dahshur the lake is a green oasis. It can be seen from the pyramid themselves and makes a person believe the the stones for the building of the pyramids arrived here on boats when the Nile flowed closer to the area. As we drove past it, we were able to see numerous birds of different species even in winter.

I didn't sue. Trying to pursue a lawsuit in Cairo from the US didn't appeal to me. I had another surgery a month after to explore nerve damage and remove a bone fragment. I had 6 months of physical therapy and my nerve is still recovering.

Decided to visit on our last day in Cairo as traffic was too congested to go anywhere on a Sunday (we didn't want to stress about being late for the airport) and its within walking distance from hotel.

It really was an eye opener albeit not all for the right reasons. As stated in other reviews, the animals looked rather skinny, many were alone and the enclosures were visibly dirty and not maintained to what I would consider a reasonable standard. Hopefully something can be done soon to improve their welfare and living environment.

The store's ice cream fridge was sadly empty.

    The part that I enjoyed:

being a Sunday, the zoo was fully of families and kids. Many were having picnics on the grass or benches. Also saw young adults on a date. Some seemed a little curious about us but were all very friendly. I know life is far from easy in Egypt right now - this short visit gave me a glimpse into their daily lives and it's nice to see them still so full of happiness, love and life.
