Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came here as part of our tour around Cairo and the views were absolutely amazing! The history and architecture of these magnificent pieces of man made craftsmanship is remarkable. Would highly recommend purchasing tickets before arrival as the queues can be long but 100% worth the journey!

Absolutely stunning piece of Egypt's history. It's such a shame that the 21st century building is starting to intrude onto this world heritage site. The history and architecture is eye opening and still leaves unanswered questions just like the pyramids of 'how did they do it?'

We visited in June and it was HOT at around 45 degrees at 11:00. There is no shade so consider bringing an umbrella and lots of fluids.

We purchased entry tickets for Menkaure and happy we did as not very expensive and one gets the idea of how the inside of the pyramids looks.

Recommend buying tickets online at the official Egypt Monuments website and visit early in the morning. It does not cool down yet by closing time. Also recommend the Sphinx entry gate as it is fairly quiet.

If, like us, you are not interested in guides, drinks, curios, etc. it is unfortunately recommended not to interact with the vendors at all. Once you glance in their direction or say anything they will not let you go and this can ruin the experience. Also do not show your ticket to anyone except when entering the complex or a pyramid. Found these ‘check points’ to be used in various different scams.

LOVED IT! Great first stop in Egypt! Have sunglasses, and maybe a hat or scarf. There are no shelters for shade like other sites. Glad we had a guide and driver. Our guide, Yasser Samir, was great at explaining the significant facts and historical and cultural context. That, paired with the reality of being there, made the pyramids extra special. It can be a lot of walking without a driver, especially if you want to see other pyramids on site. Camel rides are available for purchase and there are wandering merchants selling hats, scarves, postcards, stamps, fans, etc. Sometimes the sales techniques can get a bit aggressive and Yasser helped reinforce our messages as needed, which we appreciated. There is a special section for climbing on the Great pyramid, too. An additional ticket can be purchased to go inside.

These are some of the first pyramids built. You can go inside but it's a bit of a workout. The nice thing is that there aren't any touts selling stuff.

Seeing the statue of Rameses II was impressive. Hearing the stories of how and swhen it was discovered, how they moved it, the stories about Rameses... I loved it.

We ( a party of five) booked a two-day trip to Fayoum with Travitell Egypt, at the capable hands of Mr. Ashraf Kamal Sadek.
We were picked up from our home in Obur (a north-eastern suburb of Cairo) and driven by Sameh, a quiet and reliable driver, in his small van to our hotel in Tunis Village, Fayoum (Hotel Pyramids), which was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.
After checking in and a small snack, we were picked by another driver (Mukhtar) in his sturdy, air-conditioned Toyota Landcruiser all-wheel SUV for a wonderful afternoon trip to the pottery shops in Tunis Village, followed by a desert safari trip that took us to the waterfalls of Wadi El Rayan, connecting the First, Second, and Third Lakes. We visited the Round Mountain (Gabel El Mudawar), and even hiked up to one of its peaks. We then did some sand boarding down the slopes of impressive dunes, and ended the trip at the banks of the Magic Lake where we admired the sun set enjoying tea prepared by Mukhtar together with fresh fruits. We then had a wonderful dinner of grilled lamb and chicken, oriental rice, and French fries. After some star gazing, we returned to our hotel around 10:30pm.
Next morning, we were picked up at the hotel at 8:30 am for a morning trip dedicated to the "Valley of the Whales" (Wadi El Hitan), a fascinating UNESCO -designated World Herritage Site about 75 minutes drive from our hotel, deep in the Western Desert. We spent about two hours there, admiring the amazing pre-historic whale fossils and surrounding desert landscape. The dome-shaped museum on the site is a jewel. Visitors watch an introductory 15-minute film that explains the importance of the site, and sets the scene for the ensuing circular tour of impressive original exhibits.
Mukhtar brought us back safely to the hotel by about 1:15 pm. After a quick freshening-up, we vacated our rooms. Sameh was already waiting for us with his van for a three-hour safe drive back to Cairo/Obur.
All in all, we had a wonderful, compact, and very enjoyable trip with all arrangements exceeding our expectations and falling in place like clock-work. Throughout our trip Ashraf was contacting us to ensure that everything was in order.

Part of the Giza complex of pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Come with a guide who can explain to you the history and engineering and place these incredible structures within the scope of ancient Egypt.

Easy, interesting and relaxing education in Egyptian Pharaonic history. We went with the intention of providing our young granddaughter with a child friendly education, other than having to read to her museum plaques and hustle her past mummies. All of us enjoyed this outdoor living history museum. Not the least of it was that most of the tour took place seated on a boat drifting along a tributary of the Nile, with breezy papyrus stands and white egrets. So relaxing and welcome after hoofing it around the Pyramids complex in 100 degrees F. They seem to offer various language narrations. Proof of the value of the education was at Edfu, our granddaughter recognized the offering room which was described to us at Pharaonic Village. Waiting area is air conditioned and sells light snacks--like Doritos and Coca Cola which was welcome and familiar fare to youngsters.

Your tour bus should take you up the hill above the Giza Plateau site so that you are poised above the pyramid site. This is the best place to take photos. There will be a lot of guys with camels who want to sell you rides. You can say yes or no.

I highly recommend Egypt Historical Tours if you are looking for a thorough and enthusiastic guide. Additionally, they deserve a five star because of their knowledge of where and how to take unique photo ops and at no time did I feel rushed so I was able to comfortably enjoy my time in Egypt.
