It was an amazing couple of hours riding, i was made totally at ease even with my lack of experience. I felt comfortable with the horse i was riding and felt completely safe. Nicola was great at explaining things and the horses she has are well looked after. Riding in the desert with the pyramids in the background has made this experience unforgetable.

We decided that it would be easier to take the sleeper trains from Cairo to Luxor as we thought this would offer us a good opportunity to see the country side, take an overnight train and it was the most cost effective.

Here are couple of things we found helpful.
To book the train you can book it online or at the train station. When booking online log onto Watania Sleeper trains, run by Ernst. When trying to book online you want to purchase a double cabin with two sleeper twin size beds. When booking online the cost is 80 USD per person and it has to be booked in advance. The other option is go down to Ramses train station and purchase tickets at the Watania office which is located at the train station. We purchased our tickets the day before and there was lots of availability.

On the day of travel when entering Ramses train station you want to go to the left of the building on to the platform. The train you will be taking is a green and white train with sleeper written on the side. The signage and announcements are in Arabic so you need to double check and translate. There are plenty of tourists that also take the sleeper trains when in doubt you can join in with them.

Cons: The cabins are small and could use a thorough cleaning, the upholstery is outdated and dirty. The toilets are down the hall and are filthy so please bring extra toilet paper and disinfecting wipes. The room can be drafty depending on the time of year you go. We took the trains in February so it was a bit cold inside the cabin but you can adjust the heat although it did take a while to come on. Smoking is permitted in Egypt therefore the smell of smoke can be found everywhere. Lastly there is no wifi on the train and if your not used to riding on a train or if you suffer from motion sickness you may want to pack gravol.

Pros: The train was fast and got us there on time. They served dinner and breakfast on the train and it was delicious, you also have the option of purchasing extra coffee, tea or juice for a small fee. The customer service on the train was excellent as well. Inside the cabin is a mirror and small wash-bin so you can brush your teeth and wash your face and fresh towels are provided. There is also a space in the cabin for you to store your luggage, in addition there are two extra locks on the door for safety; regular lock on top and chain lock on the bottom of the door.

Overall it was an okay experience, it did the job, as long as you bring extra blankets, bottle water, sanitizers, etc. would I do it again probably not but the experience was unforgettable.

Words cannot express my gratitude for a fabulous 50th (belated) birthday trip.

Egypt was on my living list; thanks to @_its_my_egpty for a fabulous organised vacation.

From my initial contact with Fatma, I found her to have a warm, genuine beautiful spirit. As a visitor, I give tour guides the latitude and freedom to showcase the best of their country. After all, it is their homeland, right!

We thank Fatma and her team for being so kind, engaging, flexible and answering our many questions.

If you are looking for a comprehensive tour guide, Fatma is the person. A bonus is she is a fabulous photographer. Your pictures at the pyramids will be absolutely dynamic.

We had Yasser as our two day Cairo tour guy. He was very knowledgeable, took us to Cairo museum, pyramids, churches, and Memphis. We learned a lot from him. Definitely would recommended him as a tour guide for Cairo to help tailor made your experiences.

Truly amazing experience with Egitalloyd Travel Egypt! Being in the travel industry, my travel standards tend to be a bit high. With Hisham, Mohamed and Walid we were in fantastic hands. The expertise, education and fun built into the trip was outstanding.
They are professionals and have the best contacts and resources at their disposal.
Always felt well taken care of and very safe in this fascinating and beautiful part of the world. Cannot wait to visit again in the future!

We booked our whole trip (14 days) in Egypt with Wanderlust Travel. From our arrival to Hurghada then Luxor, Aswan and Cairo. All transfers and tours were excellent. The organization was absolutely fantastic and always on time. We had two guides and both of them very professional and full of knowledge. You can easily see they love their job and are very excited to share all information as if it was the first time. We were so happy to leave everything to Wanderlust and truly relax and enjoy during our holidays. I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for an amazing and hassle free experience. They were constantly checking on us and making sure everything was running smoothly. You really feel taken care of.

We recently completed a phenomenal 12-day private tour of Egypt that was booked through Egypt for Americans. In every phase of this trip, from planning, transfers and especially outstanding guides, Egypt for Americans exceeded our expectations. We asked to go to some lesser visited spots such as Wadi el Hitan, Saqqara, and Maidum . Egypt for Americans made it happen. Being greeted inside the security area after a very long flight and sped through immigrations and customs was extremely helpful. The drivers of our private vans were exceptional, especially Ibrahim in negotiating the chaos that is traffic in Cairo. Our guides, Gaber in Cairo and Magdy in Aswan/Luxor, held advanced degrees and had decades of experience in topics related to ancient Egypt. When we go back to Egypt, we will use Egypt for Americans again.
