Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- kidd WChristchurch, New Zealand2 contributionsWhat a great way to orient ourselves to the Rock! We were able to confidently explore the island armed with times and tides info.
Being updated with info for the remainder of our time was magic, as was being able to keep the snorkelling gear provided on the tour for the duration of our holiday.Written 14 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Niue Blue has to be up there with the best. They made "small boat" diving easy, even for "Diving Dinosaurs" like me. The use of space on their RIBS made it easy due to the restricted numbers allowed onboard and reasonably short runs to dive spots, which all added to the pleasure. Their boat operators, "deck crew" and dive guides were experienced and like all good operators, kept a watchful eye without being intrusive. They asked when required, offered suggestions and based on my dive experiences, offered fun, enjoyable and even "challenging" dives.
The Water Viz was super clear (as claimed in their advertising) and dive sights displayed healthy corals, varieties of Sea Kraits, Sea Snakes, Crustaceans, tropical fish, nudibranchs, Caves and Caverns the only thing I didn't see on my 8 dives were passing schools of larger pelagic fish species, rays or sharks.
The local Spinner Dolphins were entertaining.
Dive gear was well maintained and good quality. Also, my complements go to their compressor maintenance team. Dry air and maximum fills are very much appreciated everywhere in the dive world.
Would I return? Yes, but probably during the whale season. Even though we have our own local Humpbacks and dolphins, Niue offers a closer encounters and easier access.

From early discussions over dates and times for the booking, meeting at the Wharf in the early morning, through to the fishing and the banter, Cliff was amazing.
Cliff certainly has fishing in his veins, and knows what's needed to tick all the boxes when it comes to an on water experience. As soon as our 4 lines hit the water, we had a quadruple hookup, "result" some may say, but when there is only 3 of you on the boat including Cliff, things become frantic to get the fish in before the sharks arrive. All hands on rods and reels :)
Regardless, Cliff's support was awesome, and you really felt safe and comfortable in his Stabicraft.
We caught Mahimahi, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna, so to come away with a yellowfin for our supper was a bonus (Fish caught belongs to the boat, and it goes to local restaurants including Washaway Cafe).
Great guy, great boat, great fishing, great banter, and a truly great day out on the water.
Can't wait to do it all in 2 years time.Written 12 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guides BJ and Fede were relaxed, friendly and very professional. They really knew what they were doing and our whale encounter could not have been more magical. Mind blowing really. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Graeme D1 contributionMy son and I had incredible and memorable experiences with BJ, Vanessa, and Fede of Fish Niue. We had 3 whale watching trips and a fishing trip. We were in the hands of professionals who were caring and respectful of the whales. On two trips we had great encounters with Mom, calf, and male escort seeing them clearly in the very clear water 40m visibility with the whales surfacing only 15m from our swimming group. Fishing was successful catching a tuna and 2 wahoo. Fede's marine experience and knowledge from various countries was great to share; and his professional photos of the whales give us lasting memories.Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheSmiths202Nelson, New Zealand10 contributionsThanks Finn, Ari and Nic for a wonderful afternoon out. We didn't want to swim, just watch and it was well worth it. Really suitable for kids aged 10 and 12, they especially enjoyed trying to spot the whales and then the speedy ride home with donuts! It was also nice to see the island from the sea and the crew gave us some top tips for places to go and loads of info on the whales. A fun relaxed trip.Written 11 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JanetS7 contributionsWe went on the Whale Swim Tour with Explore Niue. Being in the ocean alongside a pod of 4 humpback whales, including a calf, is exhilarating, incredible and very humbling. Best day out ever. Our guides BJ and Fede were so very professional yet very relaxed, they absolutely knew what they were doing. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough.Written 24 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GrandTour209540219544 contributionsWe had a fantastic time on the rainforest tour with Jack. He has such amazing knowledge of the forest and seeing the huge trees was incredible. He was a lovely host - took his time and happy to answer lots of questions. It was one of the highlights of our Niue trip.Written 18 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BushavenOpotiki, New Zealand8 contributionsWe went to Niue specifically to snorkel with whales and booked with both operators. 2nd trip out with Niue Blue we got to swim with spinner dolphins, 3rd trip out was with Explore / Fish Niue and because of their persistence we got to swim with a family of whales. We stayed at the resort so N Blue was handy however both operators expect you to meet and then make your own way to the wharf, not a problem as you need your own transport anyhow. Both companies are great, however Explore Niue will get our business next time, a slightly bigger boat made all the difference for our comfort, it's 100% locally owned, our guide Vanessa was awesome, such a lovely person with great knowledge, she looked after us all so well with a nice touch of muffins with hot or cold drinks before we headed back to the wharf. 100% Explore Niue making memories, thanks for such a great life experience.Written 29 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
