When planned ahead, the ride might be worth every penny. Just make sure you buy a card with some "credit" in it should you plan on staying for a couple of days.
Want my opinion? START the tour in downtown Purple line up El Alto, then take the silver line to the blue. Ride the blue across the biggest Flea Market in Bolivia. On the way back, take tje Yellow anf Green line all the way to the south of the city. It might take you an entire day.
    A must-do!

That's right, a magnificent and beautiful place in relation to the landscape that can be observed. It is an adventure with a lot of intensity that can be done, it seems extreme and a unique experience.

Apparently this place derives it's name from a comment made by the U. S. Astronaut Neil Armstrong made whilst visiting here.
Quite a surreal thought that the famous man was actually here.
Actually , Valley of the Moon is pretty surreal & well worth a visit if you are in La Paz for a couple of days or more.
The site comprises of valleys , clefts , peaks & carunculations of sandstone which have been weathered to an extraordinary extent.
Some people come & visit as part of a City Tour - you can get a guide on site if you wish or , like us , just pay ( only a couple of dollars ) & walk around on your own.
We came by taxi from Central La Paz which took about 25 minutes.
The benefit of the latter is that you can spend as long as you like there - there are so many good photo opportunities , after all , to eat up your time. Of course , we did miss out any information a good guide could impart.
The long route takes about 45 mind to complete , the short one 15 mind.
You can spot different coloured minerals contained in the sandstone.
I read that a particular kind of hallucinogenic inducing cactus grows here.
Given that , despite many rust red wooden rails , you certainly need to keep your wits about you whilst walking around. There are plenty of opportunities to fall over or off an edge to certain serious injury or worse.
All the time we were there I noticed a strange smell , not very pleasant which may or may not have emanated from a valley with some greenery along it & some water. Possibly sewage?
Quite a bit of development on the edges of the site which , hopefully , will be stopped from further incursions.
Pretty hot whilst we were here with glare from the sandstone. If you burn easily be aware

I lived in La paz for 9 years and never did this tour! It was wonderful! There are several art galleries, the crypt, a garden, and the rooftops. There is a very narrow tunnel with steep stairs to climb to the rooftop- which might be difficult for some people. The view from the roof is so great! If you are visiting La Paz or living there- don’t miss this attraction.

I’d originally planned to walk here from my hotel, but my advice is don’t! I ended up getting a taxi and surprised it managed to make the steep roads, never mind how my legs would have coped! However the views from the top are stunning. It’s a large viewing area so even when busy there’s no trouble getting a prime spot and it offers true all round views of the city below. Other than a kids play area there aren’t any other facilities but it was perhaps the main highlight of the city for me.

    A really interesting museum.

    The masks were especially interesting.

Well laid out with good signage.

    You won’t be disappointed.

    Extra charge to take cameras/photos.

Take your time, go VERY slowly. The view across the altiplano to Lake Titicaca, the Cordillera Real, Mt. Huayna Potosi, Mt. Illimani, and La Paz/El Alto is totally worth it!

Calle Sagarnaga is one of the most popular streets in La Paz teeming with all the touristy stuff. Our hotel sits along this street which is also part of the Mercado de Las Brujas, Witches' Market.

It's very colourful both visually and mentally.

Lots of retail outlets, souvenir shops, hotels, restaurants, pubs etc.

My wife and I enjoyed our daily walks in and around this area.

This is a nice square with governmental buildings. One of the buildings has a clock that with reversed time. A good photo stop especially with the many pigeons in the plaza.

Lovely authentic street to wander up or down.

Lots of museums off the street and it’s really pretty and away from hustle and bustle.

Nice place to buy some souvenirs from the local people, the market has lot of varieties for different people and models too. However they need to work more about the organization they don’t have sections to find only one thing… If you are looking for sweaters they don’t have only in one place if not they have to go for search to another place.
Overall it was okay to shop some souvenirs here.
