What travellers are saying
- Asim AChicago, IL124 contributionsOne cannot ignore the beauty of this bridge and the construction wonder. This bridge looks very impressive and breathtakingly beautiful at the same time.Written 21 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Christiaan VerhoefDen Helder, The Netherlands21 contributionsThe Galata Bridge is next to an iconic place to visit in the city also a very good place to walk across the Bosphorus and enjoy the many views from all sides. Personal tip, take the Bridge towards the Blue Mosk for the best views.Written 28 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand2,850 contributionsSecond bridge to be built across the Bosphorus, the Faith Sultan Mehmet is another of the picturesque structures gracing Istanbul. Impressive bridge!Written 11 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Departure811861Germany853 contributionsI had seen the building site of this bridge from the airplane some years ago, so I was particularly interested in looking at it from a short distance, too. The structure is a masterpiece of the engineers. It looks elegant and certainly facilitates traffic in the Istanbul area. Nevertheless I wonder how much nature was destroyed during the building process.Written 22 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Carol A SMarietta, GA4,202 contributionsThere are two Golden Horn Bridges in Istanbul. This entry seems to be describing the Golden Horn Metro Bridge, connecting the Beyoğlu and Fatih districts on the European side of Istanbul, located between the Galata Bridge and Atatürk Bridge. This is a cable-stayed bridge, strung from two 65 m towers in a harp design. The Haliç station of the M2 metro line is in the middle of the bridge (!), sheltering passengers with a canopy. The station and the pedestrian walkways offer superb views over the Golden Horn, ship docks, Suleymaniye mosque and other sights of Eminonu and Karakoy. I walked the bridge, about 1 km from shore to shore, watching the changing views, harbor traffic, sea birds, people and bicyclists. The second Golden Horn Bridge (also called Halic Koprusu) is about 3km to the north, connecting the neighborhoods of Ayvansaray in the southwest and Halıcıoğlu in the northwest. This bridge carries the O-1 motorway, also known as the Istanbul Inner Beltway. It is a flat bridge, generally with large numbers of cars and no pedestrian walkways. Both bridges are open 24/7 with no entry fee.Written 20 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dilay oIstanbul, Turkey70 contributions5 km long tunnel is providing a safe, comfortable and fast journey between Asian and European parts of Istanbul. It takes only 5 minutes to change continents.
It is the best alternative if you want to avoid the traffic jam in Istanbul.Written 9 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Departure811861Germany853 contributionsI find Atatürk Bridge very useful because both people and cars can use it and it has contributed to reducing traffic problems to a certain extent. Besides the middle elements can be removed if bigger ships must pass by. I do not say that the bridge is attractive or whatever.Written 18 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
