Our guide Salih led five of us on a culinary adventure! Starting on the European side, we took the ferry across to the Asian continent where we sampled pastrami, pickled vegetables, several types of olives, cheeses, stuffed mussels, kebab’s, and much more. One couple was vegetarian and Salih went out of his way to organize substitutes for any meat dishes. It was a lovely evening and the markets and restaurants were lively and fun! After eating (more than) our fill, we headed back to Europe, enjoying the city skyline by night. There we indulged in baklava and Turkish ice cream, and afterwards experienced the Turkish tradition of local water pipes and tea. An unforgettable night!
