Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Bhashana Jayakody8 contributionsGangaramaya Temple, though not ancient, is an iconic modern temple in Colombo. Most of its funding comes from local residents and Sri Lankan donors worldwide. The Bodhi tree base was constructed with support from the 6th King of Bhutan, showcasing its international ties.
The temple is popular among Colombo’s higher-income communities and is known for its museum-like interior, featuring historical artifacts, including Sri Lanka’s first Rolls-Royce car.
Visitors should note there is an entrance fee of 500 LKR for foreigners.Written 24 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC6,627 contributionsLocated near the Lotus Tower, we visited this Hindu Temple next. Like any Hidu temples, we were asked to take off our shoes as soon as we entered the compound. I thought we would only take off our shoes when we enter inside the temples.
We hurriedly took some pictures here and left. The ground is rough and hot for us to take off our shoes outside of the temples.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lee SAustralia4,223 contributionsIndependent Square is a beautiful building for Ski Lankas to remember their independence from British on the 4th February 1948 in Cinnamon garden. Sri Lankan design with lions statues & statue of first president I think but could be wrong. This is a wonderful park for walking and cycling, Please don’t take photos with the snakes or there handlers as they pull out the snakes phangs & they will eventually stave to death.Written 10 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Karen BLondon, UK1 contributionWe used Less Taxi for all of our transport in Sri Lanka on our recent trip .. which worked out as 9 transfers! At all times Less Taxi was excellent to communicate with and provided a stress free service! Their prices were very reasonable. We generally booked our transport via Whatsapp 2 days before travel and were given drivers details and also kept informed as to when our drivers would be there to collect us. The drivers were always early and drove us safely to our destinations. I would definitely use Less Taxi on future trips to Sri Lanka and have already recommended them to friends!Written 22 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good selection of items, even for a tourist. Wandered around here for ages. In one room there was such a lot of stuff that it looked like a junk room. Collection of so many things, watches etc etc? Glad I came though as very colourful and lots to see inside and outside.Written 29 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BertKosters8 contributionsWe went from Amsterdam to Colombo where we were picked up by driver Nishan.
Nishan has a great comfortable van ( i think he can take 8 people in the van ) and he is a great person. He drives safe, speaks very good English, knows everything about the country and is willing to take you where and when you want to go. he is there where you need him but also knows when the group wants to be on his own. We booked hotels and safari trips ourselves and Nishan helped us to also go `off the beaten track` and with getting us tickes for the train ride to Ella. The communication with the office was also great, thnx Celine and partners for that !!!!! we will be back in Sri Lanka for sure and definitely contact them again.Written 8 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
