- AriyanaMinneapolis, MN66 contributionsThe swim club's central location makes it incredibly convenient. We stayed in the main section of the building, which offered stunning ocean views. The sunsets over the water in the evening were breathtaking. It was also fascinating to watch the trains packed with passengers pass by occasionally. The rooms are spacious with a decent washroom.
The food here is fantastic, and the prices are unbeatable. We tried the hopper buffet on our first night, and it was delicious. The buffet featured a variety of local dishes, including fresh seafood, curries, and an assortment of tropical fruits. My husband really enjoyed his English breakfast every morning, which included eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, and toast. The restaurant also offered a range of international cuisines, from Italian pasta dishes ensuring there was something for everyone. The restaurant staff seemed a bit too laid back and not in too much of a hurry at times.
I wish I had gotten the name of the bellboy who also cleaned our rooms; he was amazing and very efficient. He always greeted us with a smile and even gave us some great tips on local attractions. Our trip to Sri Lanka with Anton Travel was absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning, Anton made us feel welcome with his incredible hospitality and friendly approach. He took the time to understand what we wanted to see and tailored the itinerary perfectly to our interests.
Thanks to his local knowledge, we discovered not only the must-see attractions but also hidden gems that made our journey even more special. Everything was well-organized, and we always felt comfortable and taken care of.

We had an amazing experience with Arunas tour during our trip to Sri Lanka. From the moment we met, he made us feel completely safe and comfortable. He is a skilled and reliable driver, navigating the roads with ease and ensuring we always felt secure.
Beyond just driving, he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to share interesting facts about the places we visited. A clean and air-conditioned car picked us up from where our cruise docked close to Hambantota. We avoided the crowded safaris and spent time with a real local, who took us to various temples and beaches, we watched red rice being cultivated at paddy fields, then enjoyed several food stops for Sri Lankan tea, King coconut water and spicy egg rolls. Along the way we stopped for photos with many wild animals like dogs, cats, monkeys, a huge crocodile, buffalo and an elephant. One of the best tours with a local we have ever experienced on our cruise trips. - Tom AChester, UK2 contributionsAbsolutely one of the best trips we have ever had. From the moment we landed (at midnight in Colombo) to the last morning. Gihan our guide and Manoj our driver (and guide also!) were beyond fantastic. Gihan and his team were always there on hand if we needed any recommendations of where to eat or what to see and their attention to detail and ensuring that we were looked after and happy was 100 percent.
We were travelling with our 3 teenage kids and the holiday was brilliant for them and us. The right mix of adventure and the magical with great hotels. I particularly loved the fact that Gihan walked with us and guided us up the massive Lions Rock and kept the cheeky monkeys away from my daughter (who wasn't a fan of them trying to steal her coca cola!). We really enjoyed Manoj and Gihan's smile and support every day.
Gihan and his team definitely know the ins and outs of the country and really do find the hidden gem boutique hotels (the first hotel - our room was the size of a house!). And they can tailor to your needs and are flexible - so any budget of hotel they were able to sort for us.
A great and safe way to embrace an amazing country. One day we are in Kandy at the temple of the Buddha's tooth (a truly magical experience in the evening time), the next we are up in the tea plantations at nearly 7000 feet and the following day we are watching a leopard on a safari up close.
You can do as much or as little as you like - but we really loved the flexibiity of the air conditioned van as a base to drive us to all these exotic places you would never reach on your own (or very easily!) and a new fantastic hotel every few days. Loved the stunning views from our Tea plantation hotel and the infinity pool on the roof of the hotel in Mirrissa looking out to the beach opposite.
I loved the fact that Manoj ensured we all got on the tourist train from Nuriya Ella to Ella without missing it and protected us from the melee. I've done many back-packing travels in my day - but much preferred combining adventure with comfort and that element of safety for the kids.
Gihan got us a local SIM card when we arrived and we used watts app for all our comms - which made things really easy both before travel and during. It's easy to get money out at ATMS in Sri Lanka and really stunning place to visit. I would highly recommend Ceylon awaits for that special bespoke tour to your family.

We are thankful n grateful that we were able to cover all major cities, town n tourist destinations n attractions in a timely fashion. - Ramona M14 contributionsOur holiday has sadly come to an end. We’ve had the most fantastic time visiting this beautiful country with Danuka as our chauffeur guide for two weeks. He has been extremely knowledgeable, friendly and courteous looking after us so well for our entire trip.
I think we even had a first with him when we had to cross a swollen stream/ river in a Tuk TuK which stalled 3/4 of the way across! We made it and the return journey crossing the now torrent was in a tractor cart! Scary but great fun at the same time.
We give him the highest praise possible. His driving skills were much appreciated taking great care on the road when other drivers most certainly don’t!
We can only hope that when we return he will be our guide again. Thank you for making our 1st trip to Sri Lanka so memorable.

Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - JRE1 contributionWe stayed in Sri Lanka Colombo area due to german governmnet funded academic student cooperation project and booked Winstartours with Wickrama for a package of 12 tours to southern, eastern, and southern provinces. Trips were done with very comfortable Toyota Hybrid car as well as vans of several sizes . Wickrama was always reliablle on the spot, cars were clean and without any failure. All his trip bookings worked out nicely, he saved our money with comparably better prizes due to personal contacts to local hotels and guides. He cared for fresh food on the road, as King coconuts, Papaya and buffalo curds with triacle. Great assistance with everything unforeseen, too.
