However, we didn’t appreciate being taken to an expensive jewelry store, having to sit through a video about there gems and then get pressured to buy jewelry or gems there. We did not ask to shop for gems. Then he took us to a place to buy tea and cinnamon and the prices were super high. We found better items for much cheaper elsewhere. Sigiriya was an excellent experience, so beautiful and loved the ascent!! The most unique aspect of this tour was visiting the village Kayanwela where we were hosted by Erandi & Kumuduni (mother & daughter) for a farm-to-table lunch. The food was excellent, gourmet!!! He expertly arranged all of our transportation needs in Sri Lanka and organized a fantastic full-day tour to the breathtaking Sigiriya. We stopped by a local eatery to savor some spicy kottu roti, and the flavors were incredible! - traveler91211 contributionsI highly recommend Agate travel for Sri Lanka, they are a very professional, patient, knowledgeable and friendly and better quality than most of the popular American and European travel agencies in my opinion that offer the same quality at a higher price or the same price at a lower quality. The hotels were all 5 star and the food was delicious. I never felt unsafe nor did I have any food problems. The food was delicious and the fruits were divine especially the pineapple. There is plenty of vegetarian or vegan food for you if you have dietary restrictions. The guide and driver were polite, professional and knowledgeable. Sri Lankans in general are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. If you love elephants, Sri Lanka is the perfect country to visit!
Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and with Agate travels, you can experience and see this beauty. Sri Lanka is a top 10 country for me thanks to this agency. Shaminda is not only a perfect guide, who makes sure the whole tour will be just the experience you imagine, but also will be you friend not only during the tour. From the frist meet, I immediately feld super welcome and it was more like a trip with a friend, than with a guide. He took absolutely good care of me and made sure, the whole experience was just the way I wanted it. No matter if it was a longer stay at a location, or skipping the last event, because I was just too exhausted. Not only was the itinerary perfectly paced with variety, and the hotels excellent, the big difference was our outstanding guide and driver, Buddhika and Chandana who were informative, fun and met every request we had.
