Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Kenten WNorthern California, CA57 contributionsIt’s a beautiful mosque in city center and next to river. Like most religious sites, take off shoes and dress appropriately and appreciate the intricate architectural design.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kenten WNorthern California, CA57 contributionsA beautiful mosque in Brunei, probably the most beautiful, especially in the evening when the golden dome and pillars are lit up. The architecture is something to behold.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kenten WNorthern California, CA57 contributionsIt’s reportedly the largest village on built on stilts in the world with a population of about 30,000. It has its own police and fire stations and quite a few schools. Easy to get a water taxi to go there, or there’s a nice bridge for cars to drive there. Apparently it’s less expensive to live in the water village than on land.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 20TwentyHonolulu, HI295 contributionsThis is very popular place for locals and tourists to go and experience Brunei food. Lots of choices: noodles, skewered meat/chicken, desserts and drinks. You can eat a nasi katok for B$1! I love the energy, variety and cheapeats!Written 12 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maryann BBasel, Switzerland348 contributionsWe spent a lovely afternoon wandering around this recreational park which is within easy walking distance of the city centre. Just a few joggers joined us and so it was very peaceful. We also got to see monkeys, water lizards and several species of birds. Some easy paths plus some more demanding so caters for all types of walkerWritten 14 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mrc282World9,688 contributionsthere are 4 operators leading trips in this national park
- freme
- trandie
- sumbiling eco lodge / borneoguide
- AZ back to nature
you can find their contact info online or at social media.
freme appears to be the most popular among foreign visitors though not necessarily the cheapest. i would say it is hard / impossible to DIY. the road ends at freme / trandie lodge area, and after stopping the car, you need to find a way to go upstream (swim, boat, etc) to go upstream. moreover, park ranger escort appears mandatory when entering NP.
i went with freme on a day trip. the activities include riding the long boat upsream, climb the canopy walk, visit a waterfall with fish spa, and go tubing on the way back downstream. i was solo but it is not too difficult to find a group. just know that most people book their trips last minute or the day before. the canopy walk is within NP grounds, so the national park ranger will join the group for this part of the day, in addition to the tour operator.
everything under freme is very well organized, and lunch is good. shuttle transport from bsb can be included too, although it is also easy to self drive (all roads are paved) with the new bridge connecting two parts of brunei.Written 9 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I saw few ladies buying cartons of eggs and piles of veges and then they walked towards the riverbank to wait for the boat to take them back to Kampung Ayer.Written 4 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kenten WNorthern California, CA57 contributionsIt’s a good sized mall with some shops, a market, a couple of food courts as well as outdoor street food vendors in the evenings. Like most malls, prices would be higher than street food at the night markets. The one good benefit of the mall is the air conditioning to provide some relief from the heat and humidity.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kenten WNorthern California, CA57 contributionsIt’s one of the tourist things to do when in Brunei. After lunch around 1:30PM, the two of us walked by the river. A bunch of boat drivers would call at you to do the river tour. They usually start at B$20-30 per person. We settled on B$30 for two people (B$15/person), and picked the driver with the best English. The boat had good speed (which is a welcomed relief from the heat), so hold on to your hats. In the mangroves, saw some Probosces monkeys (they are fast and can be hard to get great pictures without good zoom) in a few different sites and a crocodile. Then the boat drove through the water village. The driver did some explanation in English which was nice (so pick a driver with good English). The tour lasted about 1 hour. Good way to spend an hour.Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Ocie JKota Kinabalu, Malaysia2 contributionsWe were so lucky to get the National Day promotion which is $35 for 3 adult, normally it's $20/pax. However this place will excite kids more than adult. They have huge waterpark and i think picnic near the waterpark will be nice.Written 27 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AFAK25Jeddah, Saudi Arabia4,424 contributionsThe BSB town centre is full of buildings with Middle Eastern and local architecture or soulless semi modern buildings built perhaps 20-50 years ago and out of a sudden there's this ornate red temple in the midst of bigger buildings surrounding it.
It is not particularly large but because of its striking paint colour, one would not be able to miss it whilst passing Kianggeh Street.Written 4 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Linda NMelbourne, Australia19 contributionsWe visited in December 2019 and the centre was a construction site. Could find no information about when it was going to open. Don't waste the trip as the drive along the coast is very interesting - rigs everywhere including out to sea visible from the coastline. We stopped off at a couple of picnic spots along the river and saw a crocodile at one of them.Written 25 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
